Women's Soccer finishes year with win over UPJ

Vulcans match season high with three goals; Cal finishes seventh in PSAC West standings

CALIFORNIA (Nov. 6) – Led by a trio of scorers, the Vulcans closed the season with a 3-1 victory over Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday evening at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.

NOTES
• California finished the year with a 4-12-2 record, including a 3-10-1 mark in league action.
• The Vulcans earned their first win since Sept. 21, plus snapped a nine-game losing streak.
• Cal took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when junior Kaylee Elwood tallied a goal off an assist from sophomore Caelin Thomas.
• Junior Alicia Green recorded the game-winning goal at the 33:54-mark after converting on a deflection off the crossbar on a shot by freshman Ida Zakrisson.
• UPJ trimmed the deficit to a 2-1 margin in the 62nd minute and pressured the net with seven shots in the second half.
• The Vulcans added an insurance goal in the final seconds on Wednesday when senior Adriana Marina scored following a pass from classmate Lorina Romeis.
• Senior Emma Williams made a pair of saves while making her first appearance since the 2022 season-opener.
• UPJ finished the game with an 11-7 shot advantage and both teams tallied two corner kicks.
• Senior goalkeeper Emily Ouimet, who made her collegiate debut as a field player, closed her career ranked fourth all-time in school history with 363 saves and a 1.59 GAA.

FINAL STANDINGS
• The Vulcans finished seventh in the PSAC West standings with 10 points behind a 3-10-1 record in divisional play.
