California earns victory over Shepherd

Harris reaches 1,000-career point milestone; Gilliard scores career-high 16 points in second start

CALIFORNIA (Nov. 23) – The Vulcans forced over 25 turnovers on Saturday evening while posting a 70-52 win over Shepherd at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover play.

NOTES
• California (4-3, 1-1) has won four of five meetings against Shepherd since the Rams joined the league in the 2019-20 campaign.
• Senior Talia Gilliard scored a career-high 16 points while making her second career start.
• She also added four rebounds, three assists and three steals in 32 minutes on Saturday.
• Fellow senior Allycia Harris tallied 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals in the win.
• Harris has now scored 1,010 points in her career after totaling 756 points at Cal following 254 points in two years at USC Aiken.
• Classmate Sierra Bermudez finished with 13 points behind three-of-four from long range and five rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench.
• Sophomore Alivia Huffman collected five points, a team-high six rebounds (four offensive) and one steal in her second-straight start.
• The score remained within six points throughout the entire first half with the Vulcans taking a 33-28 lead at the break.
• Cal seized control of the game with a 16-2 run over the third and fourth quarters to build a 60-41 lead with 7:42 left to play.
• The Vulcans scored 22 points in the third quarter – their highest total in the last 15 quarters.
• Cal registered 20 offensive rebounds in the victory.

NEXT
• The Vulcans are idle for over a week due to the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to action on Dec. 2 when they host Virginia State at 5:30 p.m.
