Donald Whitehead, Jr. both tallied 20-point games on Friday evening, as the No. 4 Vulcans claimed an 85-76 victory over Millersville at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover play.
NOTES
• California (6-0, 1-0) has opened the year with six-consecutive victories in back-to-back years.
• Polak scored a season-high 26 points on 8-of-12 from the floor, including four-of-seven from long range, and six-of-six from the free-throw line.
• He also set a career high with nine rebounds against the Marauders.
• Whitehead finished with 21 points behind 9-of-10 from the free-throw line, three assists and three steals while playing all 40 minutes.
• Senior
Keith Palek III tallied 10 points, five rebounds and two assists before suffering an injury that limited him to 12 minutes.
• Classmate
Kadyn Hannah collected 10 points, five rebounds and three steals on Friday.
• Sophomore
Antoine Arnett registered eight points, four rebounds and two assists in his third-straight start.
• The Vulcans held a 50-47 lead at halftime after the teams combined for eight lead changes and eight ties in the first half.
• Millersville maintained a 68-67 lead with 8:50 left to play before Cal mounted a 12-4 run to seize a 79-72 advantage at the 3:26-mark.
• Polak then scored the team's final six points over the last 1:17 to seal the victory.
• The Vulcans shot nearly 55 percent in the first half before being limited to a sub-.300 clip following halftime.
