Women's Soccer downed at Lake Erie

Bern registers first career goal; Vulcans attempt a season-high 18 shots with 12 on goal

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 15) – The Vulcans scored the opening goal on Tuesday afternoon before falling by a 3-1 margin at Lake Erie (Ohio) in non-conference play.

NOTES
• California (3-7-2, 2-5-1) was playing its second Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) member this season after hosting Northwood (Mich.) last month.
• The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute when junior Katey Bern registered her first career goal off an assist from senior Adriana Marina.
• Lake Erie countered with an unassisted goal at the 43:29-mark to force a tie at the break.
• The Strom claimed a 2-1 advantage in the 69th minute when Leonie Witt converted a penalty kick, her sixth goal of the season.
• Lake Erie added an insurance goal at the 75:36-mark to extend the lead to a 3-1 margin.
• The Vulcans finished the game with an 18-6 shot advantage, including 12 attempts on net.
• Senior Emily Ouimet tallied a pair of saves in the second half on Tuesday.

• The Vulcans return to PSAC West action on Saturday, Oct. 19, when they travel to face Clarion at 7 p.m.
