Vulcans suffer loss on Senior Day vs UPJ

California recognized four seniors on Saturday; Droneberger, S. Johnson lead team in kills

CALIFORNIA (Oct. 12) – The Vulcans were dealt a 3-0 loss (25-15, 25-21, 27-25) against Pitt-Johnstown on Senior Day at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Saturday afternoon.

NOTES
• California (3-12, 0-6) closed a six-match homestand that lasted over two weeks.
• Seniors Allie Droneberger and Sophia Johnson tied for the team lead with seven kills against the Mountain Cats.
• Junior Elisa Rugiero added six kills and five blocks in the match.
• Freshman Morgan Johnson and junior Adrianna Favata finished with 16 and 14 assists, respectively, on Saturday.
• Droneberger and junior Caroline Mercer both posted a team-high nine kills.
• Senior Julia Blair collected four blocks and classmate Natalie Beer registered four kills and two blocks.

• The Vulcans return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, when they travel to face two-time, defending-PSAC Champion Gannon in Erie, Pennsylvania, at 12 p.m.
