Vulcans fall at IUP, 61-51

Harris, Terrell record double-doubles; California limited to six points in first quarter on two field goals

INDIANA, Pa. (Jan. 29) – The Vulcans were held to season lows in points and field-goal percentage while suffering a 61-51 loss at IUP in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Monday night.

RECORDS/SERIES
• The California (PA) women's basketball team drops to 14-5 overall with a 9-4 record in league play.
• The Crimson Hawks improve to 14-4 this season behind a 10-3 mark in conference action.
• IUP has won four of the last five meetings at home in the series dating back to the 2019-20 campaign.

STATS
• Senior Dejah Terrell registered her seventh double-double of the year while playing 28 minutes.
• She finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks against the Crimson Hawks.
• Junior Allycia Harris posted 10 points and 10 rebounds (eight offensive) in only 22 minutes on Monday.
• Freshman Kimaya Williams tallied seven points, four rebounds and three steals in 24 minutes off the bench.

GAME ACTION
• IUP opened the game on a 7-0 run, as Cal was held scoreless until the 4:51-mark of the first quarter.
• The Crimson Hawks held a 15-6 lead at the end of the quarter, as the Vulcans made just 2-of-22 attempts.
• IUP scored the initial seven points of the second quarter to stretch the lead to 16 points, 22-6, before Cal tallied its initial points with 5:42 remaining before the break.
• The Vulcans trailed 28-21 with 1:30 left in the quarter before the Crimson Hawks took a 32-21 lead at halftime.
• IUP extended the lead to 17 points, 44-27, with 2:35 remaining in the third quarter and held a 47-33 lead at the end of the quarter.
• The Vulcans worked the deficit 52-41 with 6:28 left to play before the Crimson Hawks scored seven-unanswered points to seize its largest lead of the game at 18 points, 59-41, at the 4:50-mark.
• The Vulcans shot just 28.6 percent (20-of-70) from the floor compared to the 51.0 clip (25-of-49) for the Crimson Hawks.
• Cal held a plus-12 rebounding advantage (46-34) behind 24 offensive rebounds.
• IUP senior transfer Rahmena Henderson scored a game-high 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
