CALIFORNIA (Sept. 3) – The California (PA) tennis team suffered a 4-3 loss to Washington & Jefferson to open the fall portion of its schedule on Sunday afternoon at Roadman Park.
RECORDS/SERIES
• The Vulcans played their first of seven scheduled dual matches this fall, including six at home.
• W&J made its season debut on Sunday after appearing in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament last fall.
• Cal and W&J, which are both located in Washington County and separated by 25 miles, were meeting for the first time in nearly five years.

• The Presidents secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches.
• Senior
Carmen Duran and junior
Maria Del Mar Ojeda earned the lone doubles win at the second position.
• The Vulcans won the top half of the singles flight with Duran winning by default at the third slot.
• Del Mar Ojeda collected a win at second singles after playing primarily the third position last year.
• Sophomore
Diletta Maria Mungo earned a straight-straight victory at the first slot on Sunday.
