Ouimet sets career high in loss at Gannon, 2-1

Junior goalkeeper makes 15 saves against Lady Knights; Venezia scores first goal of the year

ERIE, Pa. (Sept. 23) – Junior goalkeeper Emily Ouimet recorded the most saves in a game since 2016 on Saturday evening, as the California (PA) women's soccer team was dealt a 2-1 defeat at Gannon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.

RECORDS/SERIES
• The Vulcans drop to 2-4-1 overall with a 1-3-1 record in league action.
• The Lady Knights improve to 4-2-1 this season behind a 4-1 mark in conference play.
• Gannon extended its unbeaten streak in the series to 11 games, including six-straight victories at home.

GAME ACTION
• The Lady Knights took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute on a goal by Brooklyn Respecki, her fourth of the year.
• Ouimet made nine saves in the first half, as Gannon held a 1-0 lead at the break.
• Gannon extended the lead to 2-0 at the 73:47-mark on a goal by Paige Taylor with an assist from Gabby Boden.
• The Vulcans avoided the shutout in the 86th minute when junior Ashley Venezia tallied her first goal of the year following a feed from sophomore Christyana Sims.
• Ouimet finished the game with a career-high 15 saves while facing 36 shot attempts.

NOTES
• Ouimet registered the most saves in a game since Meghan Jayes also totaled 15 saves at Kutztown during the 2016 campaign.
• The 15 saves by Ouimet are tied for the eighth-most in NCAA Division II this season as of the weekend.
• Her previous career high was 12 saves set as a freshman in 2021 at Edinboro.
• Sims has collected at least one point in each of the last three games (goal, two assists) after totaling two points in 18 career games.
