LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (July 5) – A combined 199 California (PA) student-athletes, representing all sports, were named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athletes by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
 
In order to achieve PSAC Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.25 or above.
 
The football team led the way for the Vulcans with 31 honorees, while baseball (23), women's soccer (21), women's track & field (21), softball (17), men's track & field (17), volleyball (15), men's soccer (14) and men's golf (10) each featured double-digit honorees.
 
A total of 3,794 PSAC student-athletes (52 percent) earned the honor during the 2022-23 season. Mercyhurst paced the league with 311 honorees followed by Gannon at 303, while Mercyhurst also led the conference with a 69 percent scholar-athlete rate.
