Simon records assist/dig double-double, sets career high in digs; Cal tallies eight blocks in loss

CALIFORNIA (Nov. 10) – Playing its first home match in three weeks, the California (PA) volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss (25-19, 25-22, 25-20) against Pitt-Johnstown on Friday night at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play

RECORDS/SERIES
• The Vulcans move to 7-15 overall with a 2-13 mark in divisional action.
• The Mountain Cats improve to 19-9 this season behind a 9-6 record against conference opponents.
• UPJ swept the season series against Cal after the Vulcans previously won seven of the eight meetings dating back to the 2018 campaign.

STATS
• Sophomore Elisa Rugiero led the team with nine kills and added eight digs and three blocks.
• Junior Allie Droneberger finished with eight kills, while freshman Sarah Stephenson added seven kills on Friday.
• Junior Rachel Simon registered her eighth assist/dig double-double of the season, tallying 24 assists and a career-high 16 digs.
• Senior Emily Buwawa posted 13 digs in the losing effort.
• Senior Alayja Floyd paced the team with five blocks against the Mountain Cats.
