Emily Buwawa recorded the most digs in nearly a decade on Tuesday night, as the California (PA) volleyball team dropped a 3-2 match (21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 21-25, 16-14) at Slippery Rock in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.
RECORDS/SERIES
• The Vulcans fall to 7-13 overall with a 2-11 mark in league action.
• The Rock improves to 13-13 this season behind a 5-8 record against conference opponents.
• Slippery Rock swept the season series against Cal and has won three-straight meetings in the series.
NOTES
• Buwawa shattered her career high by tallying a career-high 38 digs on Tuesday.
• She is the first player with at least 30 digs in a match since the 2017 campaign.
• Buwawa recorded the most digs in a match since Samantha Rudy finished with 39 digs in five sets against Clarion on Oct. 24, 2014.

Elisa Rugiero paced the offense with 19 kills on a career-high 52 attempts.

Allie Droneberger each added 11 kills at Slippery Rock.
• Droneberger and Rugiero both recorded kill/dig double-doubles in the match with Droneberger finishing with a career-high 26 digs and Rugiero adding 22 digs.

Rachel Simon collected 46 assists over five sets on Tuesday, her sixth match with at least 40 assists this year.
• Rugiero and Simon each registered three service aces in the losing effort.

Bella Buwawa was credited with seven blocks and added nine kills versus The Rock.
