ERIE, Pa. (Oct. 3) – Facing their first nationally-ranked opponent in over two calendar years, the Vulcans suffered a 5-0 loss at No. 20 Mercyhurst on Tuesday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.

• The California (PA) women's soccer team drops to 2-6-2 this season behind a 1-5-2 mark in league play.
• The Lakers extend their winning streak to eight games and improve to 8-1 overall with an unblemished 7-0 record in divisional action.
• Mercyhurst extended its winning streak in the series to eight games after the Vulcans posted a 10-game winning streak against the Lakers from 2009-17.

• Mercyhurst raced out to a 1-0 lead in the opening two minutes of the game on a goal by Madison Hoover.
• The Lakers extended the lead to 3-0 with a pair of goals midway through the first half.
• Mercyhurst scored in the 52nd minute before adding another goal at the 65:16-mark with Hoover collecting an assist on both goals in the second half.
