Men's Soccer downed by UPJ on Senior Day, 4-2

Schrecengost, Nebinski register second-half goals; Vulcans play final home game of season

CALIFORNIA (Oct. 28) – The Vulcans scored a pair of second-half goals on Senior Day at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility while suffering a 4-2 loss against Pitt-Johnstown in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Saturday afternoon.

RECORDS/SERIES
• The California (PA) men's soccer team falls to 4-12-1 overall with a 2-7 mark in divisional action.
• The Mountain Cats improve to 4-7-1 this season behind a 2-6-1 record against league opponents.
• UPJ swept the season series against Cal this year after the Vulcans previously posted a 16-game unbeaten streak in the series (15-0-1).

GAME ACTION
• The Mountain Cats took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute when Anson Portzline scored on a penalty kick, his fifth goal of the year.
• UPJ added to the lead at the 37:50-mark on a goal by Kenny Spock.
• The Mountain Cats stretched the lead to 3-0 in the 67th minute on a goal by Josh Sollars.
• Cal answered with a goal by freshman Tyler Schrecengost, his second of the year, off an assist by classmate Andriy Bilous at the 70:21-mark.
• UPJ responded less than five minute later with a goal by Oscar Trilles Monferrer.
• Senior Jake Nebinski countered with his first goal of the year, unassisted, in the 79th minute.
• Sophomore AJ Visco finished with five saves while facing 10 shots in the contest.

• The Vulcans close the season on Friday, Nov. 3, when they travel to face nationally-ranked Mercyhurst in Erie, Pennsylvania, at 2 p.m.
