Volleyball suffers loss at Pitt-Johnstown, 3-0

Stephenson leads team in kills on Saturday; Vulcans close out first half of PSAC West play

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (Oct. 14) – The Vulcans closed out the first round of league play on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss (25-15, 25-15, 25-21) at Pitt-Johnstown in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.

RECORDS/SERIES
• The California (PA) volleyball team falls to 6-9 this season behind a 1-7 record against league opponents.
• The Mountain Cats improve to 14-6 overall with a 5-3 mark in PSAC West play.
• The Vulcans entered the match having won seven of the last eight meetings in the series dating back to the 2018 campaign.

NOTES
• Freshman Sarah Stephenson led the team with seven kills on 16 attempts for a .312 hitting percentage.
• Four different players finished with three kills in the losing effort.
• Junior Rachel Simon totaled 11 assists and two service aces at UPJ.
• Senior Emily Buwawa registered 21 digs on Saturday, marking her fourth match with at least 20 digs this year.
• Freshman Kay Lindenfelser was credited with a season-high eight digs in the match.
