LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 1) – The California (PA) softball program received Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic Team honors and 12 players garnered individual academic laurels from the organization on Monday afternoon.
The Vulcans earned NFCA All-Academic honors for the eighth time in the last 10 years after posting a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.516 during the 2021-22 academic year. Cal was one of 48 NCAA Division II programs to maintain a 3.50 GPA or higher last season and was of 10 schools from the PSAC to capture the NFCA All-Academic Team status.
In addition to the team accolade, Cal U featured 12 players that earned NFCA Scholar-Athlete status by achieving a 3.50 GPA or higher during the 2021-22 academic year. The recipients of the award include

Delaney Girvin (Masontown, Pa./Albert Gallatin),
Alyssa Herbst (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick),
Kira Hillhouse (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
Caleigh Rister (Bucyrus, Ohio/Bucyrus),
Britney Wilson (Coraopolis, Pa./West Allegheny) and
Brooke Wilson (Coraopolis, Pa./West Allegheny).
The team rankings and individual honors were submitted by member head coaches and recognize the academic prowess of softball teams from across the association's membership.
