CALIFORNIA (Feb. 21) – Led by three starters scoring in double-digits, the Vulcans captured a 62-45 win over Slippery Rock in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Monday evening at the Convocation Center.
With the victory, the California University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team improves to 20-4 on the year behind a 15-4 mark in conference action. The Vulcans also recorded 20 wins for the seventh-consecutive playing season and for the eighth time under head coach
Jess Strom, the all-time winningest coach in program history. Meanwhile, The Rock falls to 11-15 overall with a 6-14 record in league play.

Dejah Terrell (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic), who was named PSAC Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season earlier on Monday, paced the team with 15 points, six rebounds and tied her season high with five assists. She also collected three blocks and one steal in 36 minutes of action.

Cal U opened the contest on a 6-2 run before scoring five of nine points to hold an 11-6 lead with 6:34 remaining in the first quarter. The teams went over three minutes without a basket before the Vulcans mounted a 7-4 run to lead 18-10. Cal U scored five-straight points to hold a 23-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Both teams traded baskets to begin the second quarter before the Vulcans scored five of the next eight points to lead 30-15 with 2:52 remaining in the first half. After a jumper by The Rock, Cal U ended the half on a 7-3 run to hold a 37-20 advantage at the break.
The Vulcans began the second half by scoring five-consecutive points, led by Harrison, before Slippery Rock scored four of seven points to cut the deficit to 45-24. The Rock posted a 7-4 run to trim the lead before Cal U scored four of six points to extend its lead to 53-33 at the end of the third quarter. After free-throws by Allen to begin the fourth quarter, Slippery Rock mounted a 7-4 run to trail 59-40 at the 5:04-mark. The Rock later scored five of the final eight points of the contest.
Cal U finished the game shooting 31.4 percent (22-of-44) from the floor and converted 13-of-19 (68.4 percent) from the foul-line. Meanwhile, Slippery Rock shot at a 38.8 clip (19-of-49) from the field despite going 2-of-13 (15.4 percent) from three-point range. The Rock held a 41-39 rebounding advantage, while the Vulcans collected 20 offensive rebounds and forced 22 turnovers.
Graduate student Jamiyah Johnson led all scorers with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor and collected 12 rebounds, as she leads the country with 20 double-doubles. Redshirt junior Kennedy Middleton recorded six points and five rebounds, while redshirt sophomore Anyah Curd finished with six points and three rebounds.
Cal U returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 23, when it hosts Mercyhurst on Senior Day with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
