EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 29) – The Vulcans held the halftime lead on Saturday night before finishing with a 1-1 tie at Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action to close play in the regular season.
With the tie, the California (PA) women's soccer team finishes the fall at 6-8-3 overall with a 6-7-3 mark in divisional contests. The Vulcans close the year ranked fifth in the PSAC West standings with 21 points after being chosen ninth in the preseason poll. Meanwhile, the Fighting Scots move to 2-9-7 this year while holding a 1-8-7 record in conference play.

Lindsie Galbreath (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) notching an on-goal attempt followed by a corner kick in the 15th minute. Over a 16-minute span, the Fighting Scots posted a trio of corner kicks and six shot attempts. Edinboro registered a pair of shots and corner kick in the closing minutes of the first half.
In the 50th minute, the Fighting Scots tied the score at 1-1 when Maggie Hays converted a penalty kick. Both teams traded field position and the next pair of corner kicks. Galbreath laced another shot attempt that went high of the net at the 84:47-mark followed by senior
Juliana Cruz (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) with a shot on goal in the 86th minute.
Sophomore
Emily Ouimet (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) collected four saves in 90 minutes. In her second year as a starter, she set career highs in GAA, save percentage and shutouts.
Edinboro out-shot Cal by a 13-6 margin while both teams registered six corner kicks on Saturday.
