CALIFORNIA (Sept. 11) – The Vulcans closed play at its weekend home invitational on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 loss (25-16, 25-14, 22-25, 25-19) against West Liberty at the Convocation Center.
With the loss, the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team drops to 4-4 this season after playing two matches this weekend against teams from both the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and Mountain East Conference (MEC).
Sophomore
Alexa Malloy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bishop Canevin) led the team with 11 kills and junior
Chelsea Howard (Atlanta, GA./North Atlanta) recorded eight kills on a .316 hitting percentage. Junior
Ashlynn Gulakowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Charters Valley) paced the Vulcans with a career-high 21 assists and added eight digs, while freshman
Emily Buwawa (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) tallied five kills, seven digs, and two blocks.
Junior
Kelly Lynch (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Holy Name) recorded a team-leading 13 digs and senior
Marley Goff (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) finished with 12 assists.
The Vulcans return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 15, when they host West Virginia Wesleyan at the Convocation Center, starting at 7 p.m.
