NOTES
• Cal U returns to Adamson Stadium for the first time in four weeks on Saturday. The Vulcans scored 21 points in the fourth quarter last week to complete a 38-34 comeback victory at IUP in the Coal Bowl. Meanwhile, the Griffins rolled to a 49-0 shutout victory at Clarion.

• The Vulcans scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning score with 11 seconds left, to earn a 38-34 win at IUP in the Coal Bowl. Junior Noah Mitchell was named MVP after finishing with 359 passing yards and four touchdowns on 30-of-43 attempts. Mitchell connected with senior wide receiver Tyson Hill with 11 seconds left for the game-winning touchdown. The Vulcans forced three turnovers and held the Crimson Hawks to a pivotal three-and-out in the final minute before blocking a punt.

• The Vulcans have won each of the eight all-time meetings against the Griffins. Three of the last six meetings have been decided by 10 points or less, including two at Adamson Stadium.

• An alumnus of the program, Daniel Day has posted a 6-12 record in three years as head coach of the Griffins. He has already led the program to its winningest season since totaling five wins in 2016. As a player, Day helped the Griffins post a 10-win season and advance to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs in 2008. He previously served as head coach at Saint Joseph's (Ind.) for two years.

• Seton Hill has already doubled its win total from 2019 and has won multiple league games in consecutive years for the first time since 2014-16. The Griffins rank third in the PSAC and sit among the top 15 in the country this season in scoring defense at 15.5 points per game. Additionally, Seton Hill is fourth in the league in total defense, allowing 271.8 yards per game. Senior linebacker Jaylen McDuffie leads the team with 76 tackles after totaling double-digit stops five times. Classmate Narrio Walks has collected 72 tackles, while fellow senior Jayden Emberton-Gaines has posted 45 stops after being a 2019 All-PSAC West Second-Team selection. McDuffie and senior Justice Griffin are tied for the team lead with 8.5 TFL, while junior Damonte Pratt paces the team with three interceptions. Offensively, Seton Hill sits in the bottom-four of the 16-team league in scoring offense at only 16.8 points per game. Senior running back Logan Wiland ranks second in the PSAC with 872 rushing yards and leads the league with eight rushing touchdowns. He has eclipsed the century mark in four-straight games and scored three touchdowns twice in the last three weeks. The Griffins have utilized a pair of quarterbacks this season that have combined for just over 1,000 passing yards and five touchdowns. Senior Taro Gaither leads the team with 402 receiving yards on 30 catches with three touchdowns. On special teams, senior Hunter Miller is averaging 35.8 yards per punt and has placed eight punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line.

• The initial Super Region One rankings were released on Monday and the PSAC features five teams in the rankings, including three from the PSAC West. The region is comprised of 47 teams from the PSAC, MEC, NE-10 and G-MAC. The Vulcans were slotted fourth in the rankings while being one of only two undefeated teams in the region.

• Cal U continues to climb in the AFCA Top 25 poll, as it moved one position to No. 4 with 649 points on Monday. The Vulcans have earned their highest national ranking since sitting at No. 3 on Oct. 18, 2010, which is the highest position in school history. Cal U has vaulted in the rankings after debuting in the poll at No. 25 four weeks ago and is one of four remaining undefeated teams in the country.

• Last weekend, junior quarterback Noah Mitchell was named the Coal Bowl MVP after finishing with 359 passing yards and four touchdowns on 30-of-43 attempts in a comeback win at IUP. He also moved into second place all-time in school history with 7,468 passing yards, eclipsing both James Harris and Joe Ruggiero. Mitchell ranks fourth in the country this year with 320.7 passing yards per game.

• The Vulcans will recognize a group of nine seniors this weekend. The senior class has compiled a 30-11 overall record and has started a combined 146 games. Offensive lineman Eric Hudanick is the team's active leader with 39 career starts and wide receiver Tyson Hill sits second in program history with 161 receptions and ranks third with 2,632 career receiving yards.

• Last weekend at IUP, junior defensive back Jermal Martin, Jr. filled the box score with a season-high nine tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1.0 sack, one interception, one forced fumble and two pass break-ups. He earned PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season following his performance in the Coal Bowl. Martin is the third defensive player in the league to receive the honor multiple times this fall.

• Junior wide receiver Derek Lockhart established career highs in every category last weekend at IUP. He finished with 153 receiving yards and two touchdowns on nine receptions versus the Crimson Hawks. Lockhart played a pivotal role in the second-half comeback, as he posted 145 yards on eight catches with two scores following halftime. Lockhart is averaging 92.3 receiving yards per game while making three starts this season.

• In the comeback win last week, Cal U trailed by three points with just over 90 seconds left in the fourth quarter before holding IUP to a three-and-out. Redshirt freshman Dominic Solomon, Jr. then recorded a punt block that was returned to the Crimson Hawk 40-yard line with 35 seconds left. He was tabbed the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week after helping set up the game-winning drive for the Vulcans.

• Last week at IUP, junior wide receiver Cam Tarrant matched his career high with 11 receptions and also scored two touchdowns for the first time in his career. Tarrant joined Marcel Pestano (2008) and Garry Brown (2016) as the only players in school history to record at least 11 receptions multiple times in the same season with Tarrant becoming the first to accomplish the feat in consecutive games.

• Cal U secured its 16th-consecutive season with at least seven victories last week with its win over IUP. It marks the longest active streak among all PSAC members. During that span, the Vulcans have posted a 144-41 overall record for a .778 winning percentage and made seven appearances in the NCAA Playoffs.

• The Vulcans continue to lead NCAA Division II and rank sixth among all NCAA divisions in total defense by allowing just 199.6 yards per game. Cal U surrendered over 300 yards of total offense for the first time this season last week against IUP. The Vulcans now sit fourth in the country in scoring defense at 11.0 points per game and fifth in rushing defense at 63.4 yards per game.

• Freshman Anthony Beitko leads the entire PSAC and ranks fourth among all kickers in NCAA Division II with 66 points this season. He has made at least one field goal in every game this season, including a 40-yard field goal in the first quarter at IUP. Beitko also assumed punting duties this month and is averaging 34.1 yards per punt, in addition to totaling 13 touchbacks on kickoffs this season.

• The Vulcans rank third in the league this year with 3.43 sacks per game after recording at least 3.0 sacks five times. Cal U tallied a season-high 5.0 sacks against both Fairmont State and Mercyhurst. A total of 13 players have been credited with at least 1.0 sack this year with four players tied for the team lead at 3.0 sacks. The Vulcans last eclipsed 30.0 sacks in the 2016 campaign when they totaled 43.0 sacks in 12 games.
