NOTES
• Cal U will play the first of back-to-back road divisional games on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Edinboro. Last week, the Vulcans cruised to a 58-7 victory over Shippensburg behind over 500 yards of total offense. Meanwhile, Edinboro committed four turnovers in a 34-14 loss at East Stroudsburg.

• Cal U amassed over 500 yards of total offense and forced four turnovers in a 58-7 victory over Shippensburg. Sophomore Noah Mitchell finished with 289 passing yards and set a career high with four touchdowns, including two to senior wide receiver Jordan Dandridge. Dandridge and junior Tyson Hill both finished with over 100 receiving yards. The Vulcans recorded five sacks and allowed just 34 rushing yards versus the Red Raiders. Junior defensive back Jimmy Pierce posted a 39-yard interception return for a touchdown and Cal U finished with 14.0 TFL in the victory.

• The Vulcans have won the last 14 meetings in the series with the Fighting Scots. Cal U has also won six-consecutive meetings in the series at Sox Harrison Stadium with its last loss at Edinboro coming in 2004.

• A longtime assistant with the Fighting Scots, Wayne Bradford is in his third season as head coach at Edinboro. He served as interim head coach in 2017 before having the interim tag removed the following season. Bradford has posted a 13-12 mark as head coach after spending a decade as the defensive coordinator. He also served seven years as the defensive line coach at Edinboro.

• Edinboro returns 14 starters from last season, but is having to replace both an All-American running back and defensive back. However, the Fighting Scots feature a premier playmaker in senior wide receiver Ta'Nauz Gregory. He leads the team with 245 receiving yards and ranks fifth in the PSAC with 18 receptions this year. In his career, Gregory has totaled nearly 4,500 all-purpose yards and has earned All-PSAC West laurels as both a wide receiver and return specialist. Edinboro opened the year with junior Andrew Tomko as the starting quarterback before he missed last week due to injury. He has passed for nearly 2,000 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career. Sophomore Jordan Castelli, a transfer from Cal U, earned the start at quarterback last week and posted almost 200 passing yards with three interceptions. Freshman running back Dorian Woody eclipsed the century mark last Saturday, finishing with 104 yards and two touchdowns on 20 attempts. Defensively, Edinboro is anchored by a two-time All-PSAC West selection in senior defensive back Brandon Anderson. He leads the team with 31 tackles (17 solo) after totaling nearly 200 stops the previous two years. Junior linebacker Ryan Bischof has collected 27 tackles, while junior defensive back DeAndre' Dowdell has made 16 stops with 3.0 TFL, one interception and one forced fumble this season. On special teams, sophomore Corey Badaracco ranks fifth in the PSAC with an average of 41.4 yards per punt.

• Cal U has won its last 14 PSAC West openers following a 40-35 victory over Edinboro last year. Over the last decade, the Vulcans have scored an average of 37.4 points in their opening game of divisional play while facing only four different opponents, including Edinboro five times (2012-15, 2018). Cal U hasn't lost its opening game in PSAC West play on the road since 2004.

• The Vulcans lead NCAA Division II with 14 turnovers forced through three games this season. Cal U trails only nearby Washington & Jefferson, which has 15 turnovers forced, for the lead among all NCAA divisions. The Vulcans and perennial power Northwest Missouri State are the only NCAA Division II programs with nine interceptions this year. Cal U has recorded multiple interceptions in all three games.

• Senior wide receiver Jordan Dandridge scored multiple touchdowns for the second time this season last week against Shippensburg. He set a season high with 107 receiving yards on six catches in the win. A native of Georgia, Dandridge ranks among the top 10 in the PSAC this year with 16 receptions and 267 receiving yards, plus is tied for second in the country this year with a career-high five receiving touchdowns.

• For the second-straight year, junior defensive back Jimmy Pierce returned an interception for a touchdown against Shippensburg. He made his third career interception late in the second quarter and returned the turnover 39 yards for a score. In 2018, he posted a 71-yard interception return for a touchdown versus the Red Raiders.

• The Vulcans rank second in NCAA Division II in rushing defense, allowing just 24.3 yards per game this season. Cal U has prevented all three opponents this year from reaching 50 rushing yards and has yielded a combined 73 yards on 76 carries and just one rushing touchdown. The last time the Vulcans kept three-straight opponents under 50 rushing yards was in the middle of the 2010 season.

• Last week, sophomore quarterback Noah Mitchell set a career high with four passing touchdowns in the win over Shippensburg. He finished with 289 passing yards on 16-of-28 attempts with no interceptions. Mitchell ranks third in the PSAC this year with an average of 14.92 yards per completion and sits among the top 10 in the country with nine touchdown passes despite playing sparingly in the second half in Weeks 1 and 3.

• Senior defensive back Lamont McPhatter II registered his second interception of the year midway through the first quarter last week. He has 12 interceptions and four fumble recoveries over 24 games in his Cal U career, as he previously played at Ball State in 2015. Terrence Johnson, who played 12 games in the NFL from 2011-12, boasts the most interceptions in recent program history with 16.

• Last week, senior Nelson Brown finished with 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 13 carries against Shippensburg. He has now reached the century mark 14 times in his career, including seven times since joining the Vulcans. Brown also posted his first multi-touchdown game of the year versus the Red Raiders after ranking fourth in the country in 2018 with 22 total touchdowns.

• The PSAC enters the weekend with five schools, including four in the West, ranked among the top 20 in the country in scoring offense. Cal U ranks third in the league and seventh in the country at 48.3 points per game. Slippery Rock paces NCAA Division II in scoring offense at 55.0 points per game, while IUP, Kutztown and Clarion all are averaging at least 40.0 points per game this season.

• The Vulcans totaled 14.0 TFL in last week's win over Shippensburg, as 12 different players collected at least 0.5 TFL. Redshirt senior linebacker Julian Cox and sophomore defensive lineman Gerald Brown combined for 4.5 TFL in the victory and tied for the team lead with five tackles. Cox ranks second in the PSAC this season with 5.5 TFL and Brown is tied for third with 4.5 TFL.

• Last week, Cal U recorded 11 'explosive plays' on offense in the victory after accounting for a combined eight the previous two games. The Vulcans scored five offensive touchdowns on plays of at least 20 yards, including four touchdown passes by sophomore quarterback Noah Mitchell. He has completed 13 passes this season of least 20 yards, including five to both senior Jordan Dandridge and junior Tyson Hill.

• Sophomore wide receiver Derek Lockhart leads the PSAC this season with 29.4 yards per kickoff return, totaling 147 yards on five kickoff returns. He also leads the team with seven tackles on special teams, including four last week. As a true freshman, Lockhart finished with eight stops on special teams in 2017.
