EDINBORO, Pa. (Nov. 2) – The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team closed its month-long road trip with a 3-0 loss (25-18, 25-23, 25-23) at Edinboro on Saturday evening in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action.
With the loss, the Vulcans drop to 11-11 overall with a 6-8 mark in league play. Cal U posted a 2-6 record and played four five-set matches during its lengthy road trip. Meanwhile, the Fighting Scots improve to 14-11 this season behind a 7-6 record in conference action.

Madeleine McKenna (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) led the team with nine kills on a .353 hitting percentage. Freshman
Kaylin Burkey (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) posted eight kills and seven digs, while sophomore
Kiandria Cowart (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) added seven kills on a .286 clip. Sophomore
Sarah Benson (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) guided the offense with 31 assists and also collected five kills on seven attacks on Saturday.
Junior libero
Jensen Silbaugh (Warren, Ohio/Lakeview) paced the team with 16 digs, as she was the lone player with double-digit digs at Edinboro. Classmate
Madison Kline (Hastings, Pa./Cambria Heights) recorded three blocks and finished with six kills on a .375 hitting percentage.
The Fighting Scots claimed a 1-0 lead with a 25-18 win in the first set after being credited with only one attacking error. Cal U won four of six points early in the set to hold a 7-5 lead before Edinboro countered with seven-unanswered points to claim a 12-7 lead. The Vulcans then rallied off three-straight points before the Fighting Scouts responded by winning six of the next eight points to build an 18-12 advantage. Edinboro later won five of seven points to take a 24-16 lead before Cal U won back-to-back points. The Fighting Scots then earned the final point of the set on a kill.
Edinboro posted a 25-23 victory in the second set to take a 2-0 match lead after the teams combined for 10 ties and five lead changes. The Vulcans jumped out to a 4-1 lead before the Fighting Scots rallied off three-straight points to tie score at 4-4. Cal U later won four of five points to take a 13-11 lead on a solo block by Kline. The teams traded the next seven points before the Vulcans won back-to-back points, 18-15. Edinboro responded with five of the next six points to take a 20-19 lead. After Cal U won consecutive points, Edinboro closed the set on a 5-2 run to earn the 25-23 victory.
In the third set, the Fighting Scots completed the sweep with another 25-23 win despite the Vulcans hitting at a .324 clip. Edinboro started the set on a 7-3 run and later won four of the five points to take an 11-5 advantage. Cal U cut the deficit to 13-10 on a service ace by Silbaugh before the Fighting Scots stretched the lead to 18-12 by winning five of seven points. The Vulcans later rallied off six-straight points, including three kills by Kline, to take a 20-19 lead before the teams traded the next six points. Edinboro then sealed the win by registering three-straight kills.
Cal U returns to action when it starts a two-week homestand, starting on Friday, Nov. 8, against Clarion at 6 p.m.
