NOTES
• Cal U continues its road trip to start the year when it faces Kutztown on Saturday afternoon. Last week, the Vulcans suffered a 28-23 loss at nationally-ranked Ohio Dominican in their season-opener. Meanwhile, the Golden Bears upset then-No. 17 Assumption with a 32-28 road victory.

• Cal U held a 17-14 lead at Ohio Dominican last week before suffering a 28-23 loss. The Vulcans were in position to take the lead in the final minute of the game before four-straight incompletions inside the red zone sealed the contest. Freshman Noah Mitchell finished with 329 passing yards and three touchdowns on 32-of-51 attempts in his college debut. Junior transfer London Cloud registered 3.5 TFL, while redshirt freshman defensive back Darrell Jackson led the team with 10 tackles. Cal U finished with over a 17-minute advantage in time of possession after running 88 plays.

• The Vulcans and Golden Bears are meeting for the first time since the 2016 PSAC Championship and just the fourth time overall since 1997. Cal U and Kutztown previously played every year from 1990-97.

• With extensive coaching experience in Eastern Pennsylvania, Jim Clements is in his fifth season as head coach at Kutztown. He has posted a winning record in each of his four years with the Golden Bears, leading the program to a 22-8 mark in divisional play. Prior to Kutztown, he spent eight years as head coach at Delaware Valley and led the Aggies to an undefeated regular season in 2011.

• Last year, Kutztown won five of its last six games and led the PSAC East in scoring at 37.5 points per game. The Golden Bears feature one of the top playmakers in the region in senior running back Craig Reynolds. He has been named to the All-PSAC East First-Team in each of the past two years and has scored 29 career touchdowns. Reynolds rushed for nearly 1,200 yards as a sophomore before missing three games last year due to injury. Junior quarterback Collin DiGalbo is in his third season as the starter, totaling over 4,600 yards of total offense in his career. He set career highs in nearly every passing category last year after rushing for eight touchdowns as a freshman. Senior Conor Sullivan anchors the receiving corps after scoring seven touchdowns in his first year as a starter. Defensively, Kutztown ranked among the top five in the league last year in every major category, including a PSAC-best rushing defense at 86.7 yards per game. The Golden Bears are anchored by three-time All-PSAC East linebacker Tajier Jefferson, who has nearly 250 tackles and 40. 0 TFL in his career. Junior defensive back Ahkee Cox-Cowan also returns after tallying 17 pass break-ups and three interceptions while earning All-PSAC East First-Team status. Kutztown features one of the top punters in the region in sophomore Dean Krcic, who averaged 45.6 yards per punt and earned All-PSAC East honors in 2017. Reynolds also provides the Golden Bears with an experienced and skilled returner, highlighted by a 53-yard punt return for touchdown last year.

• Since 2004, Cal U holds a combined 34-10 record against PSAC East opponents. The Vulcans have won nine of their last 10 meetings versus the Eastern Division with their last loss coming in 2015 against Bloomsburg. Cal U is making only its second trip to Kutztown since 1998 with the last occurrence being Week 2 of the 2012 season when the Vulcans scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:02 left to play.

• The Vulcans were picked to finish second in the preseason PSAC West poll after making a second-straight appearance in the NCAA Playoffs. Meanwhile, the Golden Bears were slotted third in the PSAC East poll after finishing one-game back of a tie for first place in the divisional standings.

• Last week, Cal U limited Ohio Dominican to only 38 rushing yards on 27 attempts in the season-opener. The Panthers returned their top two rushers from last season that combined for over 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns, while the team averaged over 165 rushing yards per game. Since the start of the 2015 season, the Vulcans have allowed only four 100-yard rushers.

• Sophomore Brian Alsobrooks converted all three of his kicks at Ohio Dominican last week while also serving as the team's backup quarterback. He made a 28-yard field goal and both PAT attempts in the season-opener. Alsobrooks, who attempted seven passes last year, made 19 field goals and 142 PAT attempts, including 82-consecutive, in his career at the scholastic level in Michigan.

• For the second time in three years, Cal U offensive lineman Christian DiGalbo will be facing his twin brother, as Collin DiGalbo is the starting quarterback for Kutztown. Both brothers are redshirt juniors after serving as the starting center and quarterback at Monsignor Bonner. Collin has accounted for 44 career touchdowns (14 rushing) at Kutztown, while Christian has played in 22 career games (three starts) at Cal U.

• The Vulcans feature two former players on NFL active rosters, two players on practice squads and an additional player on the PUP list. Offensive lineman Eric Kush (2008-12) made the active roster with the Chicago Bears after missing all of last season due to a torn hamstring. Defensive back Erik Harris (2008-11) is on the 53-man active roster with the Oakland Raiders for the second-straight year.

• Kutztown opened the campaign last week against Assumption for the fourth-straight year. The Golden Bears snapped a three-game losing streak to the Greyhounds while making their second trip in the series to Massachusetts. In 2017, the Vulcans suffered a loss at Assumption in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs. However, the Greyhounds feature a new head coach and lost the NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year.

• Redshirt junior wide receiver Jordan Dandridge made an impressive return to the field after suffering a season-ending injury in Week 3 last season. He led the team and tied his career high with nine receptions at Ohio Dominican and also set a career high with 120 receiving yards. Dating back to last year, Dandridge has now caught a touchdown pass in four-consecutive games.

• Last week, junior linebacker London Cloud registered eight stops (six solo) and 3.5 TFL while making his debut with the program. He was one of three players in the PSAC to record at least 3.5 TFL in the opening week of the season. Last year, Cloud was a first-team all-conference selection while playing at Lackawanna after being named first-team all-state as a senior at the scholastic level in Ohio.

• In his first career start, freshman quarterback Noah Mitchell finished with 329 passing yards and three touchdowns on 32-of-51 attempts at Ohio Dominican. He and Michael Keir are the only quarterbacks since 2012 to have at least 30 completions and/or 50 attempts in a game, as Keir accomplished the feat in last year's opener against the Panthers. Mitchell completed passes to nine different players in the contest.

• The Vulcans featured 11 players that earned their first start with the program in last week's season-opener. Cal U boasted six first-time starters on defense behind an entirely new group of four linebackers - a fourth-year senior and three transfers. The secondary also featured a pair of first-time starters after each player redshirted in 2017.

• Junior transfer Nelson Brown posted 94 rushing yards on 26 attempts in his debut with the program last week. He posted the second-most carries of any player in the PSAC in the opening week of the season. Last year, Brown finished second in the SAC with a career-high 240 attempts while at Lenoir-Rhyne. The Maryland native is the first Cal U player to total at least 25 carries in a game since Week 6 of the 2016 season.
