CALIFORNIA (Sept. 23) – The Vulcans scored a pair of goals in a span of three-plus minutes during the first half on Sunday afternoon before dropping a 3-2 contest to No. 20 Seton Hill in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.
With the loss, the Vulcans fall to 1-7 overall behind a 0-7 record in league action. Meanwhile, the Griffins improve to 6-2 this season with a 5-2 mark in conference play.
Seton Hill pressured the net early with four shots in just over a two-minute span before taking a 1-0 lead at the 13:05-mark on a goal by Italia Biondi, her sixth of the season. The Vulcans countered quickly with sophomore

Rebecca Lyxell (Stockholm, Sweden/Norra Real) into the right side of the net. Cal U then claimed the lead at the 17:47-mark when senior
Olivia Bryan (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) converted a cross from Ross for her first career goal. The Griffins later tied the contest at 2-2 in the 24th minute on a goal by Melanie Renda and attempted to break the tie with six additional shots before the break.
The teams were issued three yellow cards in the opening six-plus minutes of the second half on Sunday. Seton Hill registered the third lead change of the game in the 55th minute when Emily LoPresti scored her fifth goal of the season to give the Griffins a 3-2 advantage. Ross placed a shot on net at the 75:19-mark before the Vulcans attempted a shot off corner kick just over 90 seconds later.
Sophomore
Gianna Sinatra (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) tallied one save and allowed two goals while facing 11 shots in 37-plus minutes. Freshman
Carly Gobbie (Glassport, Pa./South Allegheny) then played over 50 minutes off the bench, yielding one goal and making one save on nine shots.
The Griffins finished with a 20-7 shot advantage after attempting 13 shots in the first half. Seton Hill also posted a 5-1 edge in corner kicks during the victory.
Cal U returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 26, when it travels to face IUP at 4 p.m.
