McGlumphy sets career high with nine saves; Vulcans play third road game in 10 days

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 21) – The California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team faced the four-time, defending-league champion on Friday afternoon and suffered a 3-0 loss at East Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

With the loss, the Vulcans drop to 1-6 this season with a 0-6 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Warriors improve to 4-2-1 overall behind a 4-1-1 record in conference action.

Both teams pressured the net in the opening 20-plus minutes of the game with the teams combining for six shots and three corner kicks. East Stroudsburg eventually claimed a 1-0 lead at the 21:47-mark when Jules Sicker scored on a header off a pass from Alex Pickett. The Warriors threatened to add to their lead throughout the remainder of the first half by tallying nine shots with two placed on net.

Cal U registered a shot in the opening two-plus minutes before East Stroudsburg seized momentum with four shots in just under five minutes. The Warriors then stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute when Haley Skove scored on a header after a corner kick by Hannah Saggese. East Stroudsburg later added an insurance goal in the 75th minute when Mallory Johnson scored off a rebound following an attempt by Nicole Abbott.

Junior Reilly McGlumphy (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) tallied a career-high nine saves while making her second start of the year.

East Stroudsburg finished with 15 shot attempts in each half and posted an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Vulcans return to action with their first home game in over two weeks when they host No. 20 Seton Hill on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 3:30 p.m.
