NOTES
• Cal U closes out the season on Saturday when it hosts Bloomsburg on Senior Day. Last week, the Vulcans claimed a 49-34 victory at Seton Hill after scoring 35 points in the first half. Meanwhile, the Huskies extended their winning streak to four games with a 34-31 win at West Liberty.

• The Vulcans scored 35 points in the first half last week to close out divisional play with a 49-34 win at Seton Hill. Freshman Noah Mitchell and sophomore Brian Alsobrooks combined for 325 passing yards and three touchdowns, all to different receivers. Junior Nelson Brown finished the game with 64 rushing yards and three touchdowns, his fourth game with three rushing touchdowns this year. Freshman defensive lineman Gerald Brown led the team with a season-high 11 tackles and junior linebacker London Cloud posted 10 stops, 1.0 sack and one blocked kick.

• The Vulcans and Huskies played each other six times in a five-year span from 2006-10, including twice in the NCAA Playoffs. Bloomsburg has won five of the six meetings at Adamson Stadium since Cal U defeated the Huskies in the 1984 PSAC Championship.

• A veteran of over two decades with the program, Paul Darragh has posted a 47-21 record in six seasons as head coach of the Huskies. He led Bloomsburg to over 20 wins and a pair of NCAA Playoff appearances in his first two years as head coach. Darragh served as the defensive coordinator for the Huskies for over 15 years prior to being appointed interim head coach in 2013.

• Featuring one of the best defenses in the PSAC, Bloomsburg enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak. The Huskies rank second in the league in total defense and third in scoring defense. Senior linebacker Nate Monroe leads the team with 65 tackles, plus has posted 6.5 TFL, while junior linebacker Alex Annan has added 64 stops and 3.5 sacks. A two-time All-PSAC East selection, senior defensive lineman Chris Gary leads the team and ranks fourth in the PSAC with both 14.5 TFL and 9.0 sacks. Bloomsburg is tied for the league lead with 17 interceptions and four players have recorded at least three interceptions. Senior defensive back Dexter Jordan leads the team and sits second in the conference with five interceptions. Bloomsburg continues its tradition of a run-based offense and ranks fourth in the league this year with 194.5 rushing yards per game. The duo of senior Hakeem Sillman and junior Alex Gooden have combined for over 1,300 rushing yards on 240 attempts. Gooden, who has nearly 400 rushing yards over the last four weeks, leads the team with five rushing touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Erik Benjamin has totaled over 1,250 passing yards and 12 touchdowns in his first year as the starter. A two-time All-PSAC East honoree, junior Michael Allen is tied for fifth in the PSAC with seven receiving touchdowns and leads the team with 488 receiving yards on 39 receptions. On special teams, junior Kieron Smethers is averaging 35.9 yards per punt behind five punts of at least 50 yards.

• The latest Super Region One rankings were released on Monday and the PSAC continues to feature three teams in the rankings. The region consists of the PSAC, MEC, NE-10 and G-MAC. There are now three remaining unbeaten teams in the region after Tiffin was dealt its first loss of the year last week. Seven of the regionally-ranked teams will close the regular season on the road, including four of the top five.

• In the last week of the regular season, the PSAC will host its annual championship with undefeated West Chester facing Slippery Rock. Meanwhile, the NE-10 will hold a de facto championship game when LIU Post faces New Haven, as both teams boast unblemished league records. Notre Dame (Ohio) has already secured the MEC title, while Hillsdale claimed the championship in the G-MAC.

• Cal U clinched its 15th-consecutive winning season with its victory last week at Seton Hill. It marks the longest streak of winning seasons in program history. Prior to the current stretch, the Vulcans posted only seven seasons with an overall record at or above .500 from 1971 to 2003.

• The Vulcans and Huskies enter the weekend with four common opponents this season by virtue of league crossover play (Edinboro, Kutztown, Mercyhurst, Shippensburg). Cal U posted a 3-1 record against the quartet this year, while Bloomsburg tallied a 1-3 mark. The Vulcans hold a combined 35-11 record against PSAC East opponents since the 2004 campaign.

• Junior running back Nelson Brown enters the last week of the regular season leading the PSAC with 18 rushing touchdowns while sitting fifth in the league with 987 rushing yards. He looks to become only the second player in the last six seasons to reach the 1,000-yard mark. Brown is tied for fourth in NCAA Division II in rushing touchdowns after recording his fourth game with three rushing touchdowns last week.

• The Vulcans will recognize a group of 10 seniors this weekend. The senior class has compiled a record of 34-11 and has started a combined 81 games. Defensive lineman Malik Akins is the active leader on defense with 23 career starts, while five other seniors have each made at least eight starts in their careers.

• Bloomsburg junior running back Qmac Quiteh is the younger brother of former Husky standout Franklyn Quiteh. Qmac was an All-PSAC East Second-Team honoree in 2017 after totaling 979 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Franklyn became the school's second recipient of the Harlon Hill Trophy in 2013 after finishing his career as the all-time leader in the PSAC with 7,523 rushing yards and 87 rushing touchdowns.

• Last week, freshman defensive lineman Gerald Brown led the team with a season-high 11 tackles while making his eighth-consecutive start. He leads all defensive linemen and ranks fifth on the team with 43 tackles this season. Brown has recorded 5.0 TFL, 2.5 sacks and one blocked kick while playing as a true freshman. The West Mifflin product was also a standout wrestler at the scholastic level.

• The Vulcans feature one of the most balanced receiving corps in the PSAC this year, as three players have surpassed 500 receiving yards. Sophomore Tyson Hill leads the team with a career-high 835 yards, while junior Chad Livingston and redshirt junior Jordan Dandridge both eclipsed the 500-yard mark last week. The last time Cal U featured three players with at least 500 receiving yards was in 2011.

• Last week, junior linebacker London Cloud recorded double-digit tackles for the third time this year and blocked a PAT attempt for the second-straight week. He leads the team and ranks among the top 15 in the PSAC with 75 tackles this season. Cloud is also tied for fourth in the league with a team-best 14.5 TFL behind four multi-TFL games. The Ohio product has posted at least seven tackles in eight of 10 games this year.

• Redshirt freshman Fritz-Kelly Edmond earned his first career start last week at Seton Hill. He previously appeared in three games as a reserve this year before starting at left tackle for junior Craig McCorkle, who was battling an illness. It marked the first change this season along the offensive line for the Vulcans. Last week, Cal U scored six offensive touchdowns while amassing its most yards of total offense in over a month.

• Cal U and Bloomsburg enter the weekend with a combined 33 interceptions and five interception returns for touchdowns. The Huskies are tied for the league lead and rank third in NCAA Division II with 17 interceptions, while the Vulcans are fourth in the conference with 16 interceptions. Both teams also sit among the top five in the PSAC this year in passing defense, as each defensive unit allows less than 200 yards per game.
