NOTES
• Cal U closes out divisional play on Saturday by traveling to face Seton Hill in nearby Greensburg. Last week, the Vulcans suffered a 44-21 loss to Slippery Rock at home. Meanwhile, the Griffins allowed nearly 550 yards of total offense in a 56-14 loss at nationally-ranked IUP.

• Cal U trailed by only three points at halftime last week before suffered a 44-21 loss to Slippery Rock. In the contest, The Rock finished with 345 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns while scoring 20-unanswered points in the second half. Junior linebacker London Cloud set a season high with 11 tackles and 4.0 TFL and also recorded two forced fumbles, 1.0 sack and one blocked kick. Freshman Naszhir Taylor posted a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to tie the score early in the first quarter. Junior running back Nelson Brown finished with 90 yards and two scores.

• The Vulcans have won each of the six all-time meetings against the Griffins. Cal U posted a 48-7 win in the initial meeting between the two schools in 2008 during the NCAA Playoffs when Seton Hill was a member of the WVIAC.

• After a successful tenure in NCAA Division III, Isaac Collins has posted a 13-51 overall record in six years as head coach with the Griffins. He led the program to five wins during the 2016 season to mark the program's winningest season since making the NCAA Playoffs in 2012. Collins previously served three years as head coach at Widener, leading the program to a pair of wins in the 2012 NCAA Playoffs.

• Three weeks ago, Seton Hill scored 27-unanswered points in the second half to snap a 20-game losing streak that dated back to Oct. 22, 2016. The Griffins feature one of the premier wide receivers in the country in redshirt junior Ardell Brown. He leads the PSAC and ranks sixth in the country with 1,055 receiving yards, while also leading the league with 67 receptions and eight receiving touchdowns. Brown opened the season with six-straight, 100-yard games and scored three touchdowns in the win over Mercyhurst on Oct. 13. Redshirt freshman Chris Jones took over at quarterback at the start of the second half versus Mercyhurst and has posted over 600 passing yards with five touchdowns the past three weeks. Sophomore running back Cinque Sweeting leads the team with 549 rushing yards and also has nearly 20 receptions. Defensively, the Griffins allow over 40 points and nearly 500 yards of total offense per game. Freshman linebacker Jaylen McDuffie leads the team with 55 tackles while also recording 7.0 TFL and 3.0 sacks. Senior defensive back Malik Scott has added 53 stops and three fumble recoveries, while senior defensive lineman Tyler Affa paces the team with 8.5 TFL and 3.5 sacks. On special teams, Seton Hill is the only team in the PSAC to return both a kickoff and a punt for a touchdown this season. Brown registered a 69-yard punt return for a touchdown in the win over Mercyhurst. Senior Matt Stewart is averaging 38.8 yards per punt and has placed 12 of his 46 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line.

• The latest Super Region One rankings were released on Monday and the PSAC continues to feature three teams in the rankings. The region consists of the PSAC, MEC, NE-10 and G-MAC. There are now four remaining unbeaten teams in the region with each conference boasting a team with a perfect record. The G-MAC features the only meeting between regionally-ranked opponents this weekend with Tiffin traveling to face Hillsdale.

• By virtue of play last Saturday, the PSAC already has determined its representatives for the PSAC Championship with one week of divisional play remaining. West Chester secured a berth in the title game following its 38-21 victory at previously undefeated Kutztown. Meanwhile, Slippery Rock claimed the outright division title in the PSAC West last week with its win at Cal U.

• Last week, the Vulcans yielded 345 rushing yards to Slippery Rock and allowed multiple players to eclipse the century mark for the first time since 2015. Rock running back Wes Hills became the first player to score four rushing touchdowns in a game since former NFL veteran John Kuhn scored six times on the ground in 2002.

• Early in the first quarter last week, freshman Naszhir Taylor posted a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Slippery Rock. He finished the game with 158 yards on four kickoff returns for an average of 39.5 yards per return. Taylor is the first player to record a kickoff return for a touchdown since former All-American Garry Brown in Week 3 of the 2016 season.

• Junior running back Nelson Brown scored a pair of touchdowns last week against Slippery Rock, his fifth multi-touchdown game of the year. He leads the PSAC and is tied for seventh in the country with a career-high 16 total touchdowns (15 rushing, one receiving). Brown has now scored 33 touchdowns in 30 career games after totaling a combined 17 scores the past two years at Lenoir-Rhyne.

• Last week, junior linebacker London Cloud led the team with a season-high 11 tackles and also recorded 4.0 TFL, 1.0 sack, two forced fumbles and one blocked kick. The 4.0 TFL are the most in a game for the Vulcans since Week 9 of last season. A transfer from Lackawanna, Cloud is tied for fourth in the PSAC this year with 13.5 TFL and also leads the team with 65 tackles (40 solo) and 3.5 sacks.

• Cal U continues to lead the PSAC in fewest sacks allowed despite surrendering a pair of sacks last week. The Vulcans, which have started the same five offensive linemen at the same position in each game this year, rank sixth in the country with 0.56 sacks allowed per game. Cal U has allowed just five sacks on 348 pass attempts this year.

• Redshirt junior Jordan Dandridge and junior Chad Livingston returned to action last week after both wide receivers missed time due to injuries. Dandridge was among the league leaders in receptions and receiving yards before missing four games. Livingston tied for team lead with five receptions against Slippery Rock after being forced to miss the game at Mercyhurst two weeks ago due to injury.

• The Vulcans lead the PSAC and are tied for fifth in the country with six blocked kicks this season. Last week, junior London Cloud blocked a PAT attempt early in the fourth quarter against Slippery Rock. Cal U has recorded 51 blocked kicks since the start of the 2011 season, tallying at least five blocked kicks each year. In 2017, the Vulcans finished second in NCAA Division II with nine blocked kicks.

• Junior defensive back Lamont McPhatter II leads the PSAC and is tied for sixth in NCAA Division II with 0.71 interceptions per game. Earlier this season, he made an interception in four-consecutive games and scored a defensive touchdown in back-to-back games. McPhatter ranks third on the team with 55 tackles this year after collecting at least five stops in each game played.

• This fall, Super Region One has featured several prolific young quarterbacks, as three of the region's top-four quarterbacks in passing yards are freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Freshman quarterback Noah Mitchell ranks fourth in the region with 2,414 passing yards behind a trio of 300-yard games. He also sits second in the PSAC behind only another freshman with both 191 completions and 343 attempts.

• As a result of the PSAC utilizing a 'flex schedule' for Week 11 due to the PSAC Championship, the Vulcans will now host Bloomsburg on Nov. 10. Cal U was originally set to face West Chester on that date, but flexed to the Huskies as a result of West Chester and Slippery Rock playing for the league title. Bloomsburg lost four of five games early this season, but enters Week 10 on a three-game winning streak.
