SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (Oct. 14) – The Vulcans allowed three goals in the first half on Sunday afternoon before dropping a 3-0 contest at Slippery Rock in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
With the loss, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team falls to 1-11-2 overall with a 0-11-2 mark in league play. Meanwhile, The Rock improves to 9-4-2 this season behind a 7-4-2 record in conference action.
Slippery Rock was unable to capitalize on a pair of corner kicks in the opening 11 minutes with the two kicks occurring within just over a minute of each other. The Rock later took a 1-0 lead at the 14:28-mark when Sofia Harrison scored off a deflection by Skye Kramer. Slippery Rock continued to pressure the net in the first half, stretching the lead to 2-0 on an unassisted goal by Kaitlyn Barackman in the 35th minute. The Rock added to the lead at the 41:03-mark when Shannon McIntyre converted a penalty-kick opportunity for her first goal of the year.
The Rock registered a shot on net in the opening two minutes of the second half and nearly tallied another goal in the 61st minute before the shot hit off the crossbar. Slippery Rock applied increase pressure on the net in the final 11 minutes of the contest, recording six shots with three being placed on net.

Reilly McGlumphy (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) finished with four saves in 45 minutes while making her first start since Sept. 29. Freshman
Carly Gobbie (Glassport, Pa./South Allegheny) played the entire second half and posted a season-high six saves while facing 13 shots.
Slippery Rock tallied 22 shot attempts in the victory and registered a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Vulcans return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 17, when they travel to face Clarion at 7 p.m.
