NOTES
• Cal U takes its first road trip of the season on Saturday when it travels to face Millersville in PSAC Crossover play. The Vulcans rolled to a 54-14 win over Cheyney last weekend. Meanwhile, the Marauders scored a pair of late touchdowns to earn a 45-38 victory at Seton Hill.

• Cal U mounted eight scoring drives and forced four turnovers in a 54-14 victory last week against Cheyney at Adamson Stadium. Senior quarterback Michael Keir passed for 221 yards and five touchdowns while playing only two-plus quarters. Senior wide receivers Tom Greene and Luke Smorey each caught a pair of touchdowns, while junior Jordan Dandridge finished with 100 receiving yards. Senior linebacker DeVonte Suber led the team with seven tackles, while junior defensive lineman Malik Akins added with five tackles and 2.0 TFL. Three other players collected five stops in the win.

• The Vulcans and Marauders are meeting for the fourth time in the last six years after previously playing only once from 1988 - 2011 (2006). Cal U is playing at Millersville for only the third time in the last 32 years (1986, 2013).

• In his fifth year as head coach, Greg Breitbach has posted a 7-39 overall record with the Marauders with no more than two wins in a season. Millersville ranked second in the PSAC in pass defense last year and boasted its most selections on the All-PSAC East Teams since 2009. Breitbach spent eight years on the coaching staff at North Dakota, including six seasons as offensive coordinator, before coming to Millersville.

• Last week, Millersville scored a pair of touchdowns in the final six minutes to earn a 45-38 victory at Seton Hill. Redshirt freshman quarterback Collin Shank accounted for six touchdowns (two rushing) while making his first career start and finished with 424 passing yards on 28-of-52 attempts. Shank was named the PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week after recording the most passing yards for Millersville in a game since 1999. An All-PSAC East selection last year, senior Kevin Wiggins leads the team with 135 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 10 catches. Wiggins ranks fifth in school history with 20 career receiving touchdowns. Graduate student Xavier Jenkins and redshirt freshman Kobe Miranda both have made eight receptions and combined for nearly 200 yards. Miranda paces the team with 94 rushing yards, while Shank has rushed for four touchdowns on 19 attempts. Defensively, senior linebacker Sean Dugan leads the PSAC with 31 tackles after making a staggering 21 stops (13 solo) last week. He finished with a team-leading 111 tackles last year and received All-PSAC East laurels. Redshirt junior Trejon Dinkins and sophomore Cameron Boykin are tied for second on the team with 16 stops this season. On special teams, the Marauders rank next to last in the 16-team PSAC with an average of just 25.2 net yards per punt. Freshman Joey Farley made his lone field-goal attempt of the year, converting a 30-yard kick last week.

• After jumping three spots in the national poll last week, Cal U remained at No. 5 in the AFCA Top 25 poll this week. The Vulcans are featured in the top five of the rankings in consecutive polls for the first time since 2010. The top-five teams in the poll were unchanged from last week; however, a pair of top-10 teams suffered their first loss of the year last weekend.

• Cal U sits third in the PSAC this season in time of possession with an average of 33 minutes, 23 seconds per game. The Vulcans have been aided in the category by converting 53.6 percent of third downs (15-of-28), which is second-best in the league. Cal U has been able to avoid third-and-long situations in part to quarterbacks being sacked just once on 78 pass attempts.

• Senior kicker Will Brazill has scored 10 points in both games this year and has now recorded double-digit points nine times in the last 14 games. He has made all three field-goal attempts and converted all 11 PAT attempts through two games. Brazill recorded three touchbacks last week, as the average starting position for Cheyney was its own 22-yard line.

• Senior quarterback Michael Keir posted five touchdown passes in just over two quarters of play last week versus Cheyney. He finished with 221 passing yards on 16-of-23 attempts while leading six scoring drives. Keir has now thrown at least five touchdown passes in a game four times in 14 career starts and tied the single-game school record of six touchdown passes last year against Seton Hill.

• Last season, the Vulcans scored a touchdown in the final 60 seconds of the first half in all 12 games. Cal U has continued the scoring trend in both games of this year, as it converted a field goal with two seconds remaining in the first half of the season-opener before scoring a touchdown with 14 seconds left last week. Under head coach Gary Dunn, the Vulcans have posted points in the last 10 seconds of the first half four times.

• Cal U forced four turnovers, including three interceptions in the second quarter, last week against Cheyney after being unable force a turnover two weeks ago. The Vulcans have forced at least one turnover in 28 of their last 31 games dating back to the 2014 season. Junior Nigel Garnett and sophomore Lamont McPhatter II each registered their first career interceptions, while senior Vondel Bell made his fourth career interception.

• The Vulcans recorded a safety against Cheyney last week when an errant snap on a punt late in the first half rolled out of the end zone. Cal U has tallied a safety in back-to-back games for the first time since late in the 2011 campaign. The Vulcans have now posted multiple safeties in both 2016 and 2017 after totaling just one combined safety from 2012-15. In the season-opener, the two points via safety resulted in the difference in the final score.

• Senior wide receivers Tom Greene and Luke Smorey each made a pair of touchdown receptions last week against Cheyney. The Vulcans have boasted two players with multiple touchdown catches twice in the last two years after previously not accomplishing the feat since 2012. Greene and Smorey tied for second on the team last year with six touchdown receptions and Smorey now boasts 14 career touchdowns.

• Junior defensive lineman Malik Akins has recorded 11 tackles and 3.5 TFL through the opening two weeks of the year. He set a career high with 2.0 TFL against Cheyney last week after establishing a career best with six stops, including 1.5 TFL, in the season-opener versus Ohio Dominican. Akins finished with 33 tackles, 4.0 TFL and 2.0 sacks last year after spending the 2015 season as an offensive lineman.

• Since 2004, Cal U holds a combined 32-10 record against PSAC East opponents. The Vulcans have won eight of their last 10 meetings versus the Eastern Division with their last loss coming in 2015 against Bloomsburg. Cal U is making only its second trip to Millersville since 1987 with the last occurrence being the final week of the 2013 season.

• Junior Jordan Dandridge registered the first 100-yard game of his career last week, finishing with 100 receiving yards on just four catches with one touchdown. He sits third on the team with 156 yards and is tied for second with 13 receptions, including a career-high nine catches in the season-opener. The Georgia native made six starts last year and finished with 222 receiving yards on 20 catches, including five in the NCAA Playoffs.

• The Vulcans finished with 185 rushing yards on 36 attempts last week after being limited to just 54 yards on the ground in the season-opener. Against Cheyney, four different players recorded at least six carries with junior Jimmy Wheeler pacing the team with 12 attempts. Additionally, no player totaled at least 65 yards, as senior Nick Grissom led the team with 61 yards on nine carries.
