NOTES
• Cal U finishes the regular season on Saturday with post-season implications still at stake. Last week, the Vulcans extended their winning streak to four games with a 30-13 victory at Edinboro. Meanwhile, ESU claimed its first victory in a month with a 37-27 win at Lock Haven.

• Cal U forced three turnovers and recorded six sacks while posting a 30-13 victory at Edinboro to close PSAC West play. The Vulcans limited the Fighting Scots to just 176 yards of total offense and forced Edinboro to turn the ball over on downs four times, including twice in the red zone. Senior Luke Hrapchak led the team with 11 tackles and set a career high with 3.0 TFL. Classmate DeVonte Suber added eight stops, 2.0 TFL, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The Vulcans finished with nearly a seven-minute advantage in time of possession last weekend.

• The Vulcans and Warriors are meeting for the first time since the 2011 season after previously playing four times in six years.

• The longest tenured active head football coach in all NCAA levels, Denny Douds has posted a 263-195-3 record over 44 years as head coach of the Warriors. He holds the all-time PSAC record for wins and is one of only 15 coaches in NCAA history to serve as head coach for at least 40 seasons. Douds led ESU to seven-straight-winning seasons from 2000-06 with a pair of appearances in the NCAA Playoffs.

• Following its first win in over a month, ESU swept the three Player of the Week awards from the PSAC on Monday. Redshirt junior Jaymar Anderson ranks third in the league with 1,034 rushing yards after playing only one game last year due to injury. He started the season with three-straight 100-yard games before setting career highs with 200 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 30 attempts last week. The Warriors have started a pair of quarterbacks this season in redshirt freshman Ben Moser and senior Tim DiGiorgio with the tandem combining for over 1,800 passing yards and 10 touchdowns. An All-PSAC East selection last year, senior Tim Wilson ranks seventh in the league with 802 receiving yards on 50 catches with four touchdowns. Defensively, the Warriors lead all NCAA divisions with 21 fumble recoveries as five players have recovered multiple fumbles. Senior linebacker Dakota Everett ranks sixth in the PSAC with a team-leading 89 tackles and has also tallied 7.0 TFL, three fumble recoveries and four blocked kicks. Fellow senior linebackers Mike Wiand and Sekou Jones have both recorded at least 75 stops and have combined for 12.5 TFL and four forced fumbles. Sophomore Justin Johnson leads the country with six forced fumbles this year, while redshirt junior Bill Inge III has collected five forced fumbles. On special teams, junior Marquis Fells has combined for over 700 return yards this year highlighted by a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown.

• The latest Super Region One rankings were released on Monday with the only change being at the bottom of the rankings. Cal U moved up one spot to ninth and LIU Post dropped one position to No. 10. The region now consists of the PSAC, MEC, NE-10 and G-MAC, which replaces the CIAA in the region. The selections and pairings for the NCAA Playoffs will be announced on Sunday evening.

• In the final week of the regular season, Super Region One features several pivotal contests that could alter the NCAA Playoffs. In the G-MAC, Findlay travels to face Ohio Dominican with both teams tied for first in the league standings. The PSAC is the lone conference in the region to hold a title game and features IUP traveling to West Chester, which already has two losses. Additionally, two-loss Notre Dame (Ohio) travels to face nationally-ranked and undefeated UIndy in a non-regional contest.

• Senior wide receiver Luke Smorey set a career high last week with 124 receiving yards on seven catches with one touchdown. He now has five touchdown receptions this season, marking his third-straight year with at least that amount. Smorey has shattered his career highs with 774 receiving yards and 61 catches as a senior, making at least five receptions in eight games.

• Over the last four games, opponents have run a combined 35 plays inside the Cal U 10-yard line with only six resulting in touchdowns. The Vulcans have also forced a turnover on downs six times during that span, including twice last week at Edinboro and four times against Clarion on Oct. 14.

• Last week, Cal U held Edinboro to season lows of 39 rushing yards and 176 yards of total offense with a combined 136 yards coming on its two touchdown drives. It marked the first time this year the Vulcans held an opponent to under 200 yards of total offense. Cal U has now limited opponents to below the century mark on the ground five times this season. The previous week, Edinboro nearly set the PSAC record with 826 yards of total offense.

• Last week, senior kicker Will Brazill converted all three field-goal attempts at Edinboro with two coming in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 30-13. He has now made three field goals in a game three times this year. Brazill ranks third in NCAA Division II with 18 field goals, which are the most in the PSAC since 2012 when IUP's Brett Ullman needed 14 games to convert 19 field goals on 29 attempts.

• This weekend, Cal U will face a 1,000-yard rusher for the third time in four games. Last week, the Vulcans limited Edinboro's Walter Fletcher to 90 rushing yards and no touchdowns after he combined for over 475 yards and eight scores in the previous two games. Three weeks ago, Gannon's Marc Jones scored one touchdown on 30 carries after he tallied nine scores and over 500 yards on 42 attempts over the previous two games.

• With his performance last week, senior Michael Keir became the eighth player in school history to reach 6,000 career passing yards. The last five quarterbacks that have started multiple years, dating back to Joe Ruggiero (2004-07), have all reached the milestone. Keir has also thrown a touchdown in 21 of 22 career starts and enters the weekend ranked fourth all-time in school history with 58 touchdown passes.

• The Vulcans extended their streak of at least one blocked kick to eight-straight games early in the first quarter last week. Senior Acantay Patton blocked a PAT attempt after Edinboro scored a touchdown on its initial drive of the game. Cal U now holds the outright lead in NCAA Division II, and is tied for second among all NCAA schools, with nine blocked kicks this season.

• Senior linebacker Luke Hrapchak led the team in tackles for the sixth time this year last week, as he finished with 11 tackles and a career-high 3.0 TFL at Edinboro. Hrapchak now ranks third in the PSAC with 95 tackles this season after tallying over 100 stops last season. He is the first player since defensive back Rontez Miles (2009-12) to reach 250 career tackles.

• Junior Jalen Bell rushed for a pair of touchdowns last week at Edinboro, becoming the third player to score multiple times on the ground this season. Over the last two weeks, he has combined for 135 rushing yards on 39 carries while also adding 58 yards on eight receptions. A native of Ohio, Bell has totaled nine rushing touchdowns in two years with the program and ranks fourth on the team this season with 21 receptions.

• The Vulcans set a season high with 6.0 sacks last week at Edinboro, which matched their combined total over the previous four games. Seven different players were credited with at least 0.5 sack, as senior DeVonte Suber and junior Dymond Thomas tied for the team lead with 1.5 sacks.
