DJ Hahn (Warren, Pa./Warren) registered a career-high 27 points and the defense forced 32 turnovers on Saturday afternoon, as the No. 10 California University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play with a 73-47 victory over Kutztown at the Convocation Center.
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 3-0 overall and open conference action with a victory for the fourth-consecutive season. Meanwhile, the Golden Bears fall to 2-2 on the season behind a 0-1 record in league play.
Hahn scored 27 points on 9-of-13 attempts from the floor, including five-of-six from beyond the arc, and added seven rebounds and four steals in 37 minutes. She becomes the first player to convert five three-pointers in a game since teammate
Emily Suckling (Cheltenham, Australia/Mentone Girls' Secondary College) made six from long range versus Davis & Elkins on Feb. 6, 2016. Hahn leads the team with 39.0 minutes per game this year after playing at least 15 minutes in only four games as a freshman.

Shatara Parsons (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) tallied 20 points on 8-of-12 from the field and added two assists and a career-high five steals on Saturday. Junior
Abbey Sporio (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) totaled seven points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in 23 minutes off the bench while making her season debut.
Cal U forced 32 turnovers and collected 13 steals against the Golden Bears while converting over half of its points off turnovers. The Vulcans last forced at least 30 turnovers in the NCAA Tournament last season against Virginia Union.
Cal U opened the game on an 11-5 run, as it connected on five-of-eight shots from the field and forced five turnovers. The Vulcans extended their lead on a three-pointer by Hahn before the Golden Bears tallied a pair of free-throws to cut the deficit to 17-6 with 2:59 left in the first quarter. Cal U used a 17-5 run to extend its lead, converting six-of-eight from the floor, including three-of-three from long range. The Golden Bears countered with a 6-2 run with 3:21 left in the second quarter before the Vulcans went into the break up 46-26 following an 11-6 rally when they made five-of-seven from the free-throw line.
Kutztown converted back-to-back jumpers to open the third quarter before Cal U went on an 11-2 run. The Vulcans registered five steals and made five-of-nine shots from the field to go up 66-33 with 7:16 left in the game. The Golden Bears worked the deficit down to 68-42 following a 9-0 rally over two-plus minutes. Cal U answered with back-to-back free-throws before Kutztown countered with a short 4-0 run in the closing minutes.
Cal U finished the game shooting 27-of-56 (48.2 percent) from the field, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Kutztown made 37 percent (17-of-46) from the floor and converted 10-of-13 attempts (76.9 percent) from the free-throw line. The Vulcans held a 34-28 rebound advantage and totaled 26 points in the paint.
Sophomore Kaylan Jackson led Kutztown with 11 points in the losing effort after going three-of-six from the floor and making four-of-four from the charity stripe. Junior Taylor Thames finished with eight points on four-of-eight from the field, while sophomore Jenna Widdicombe paced the team with six rebounds.
The Vulcans continue their weekend homestand tomorrow, Sunday. Nov. 19, when they host Mansfield in the Convocation Center at 1 p.m.
