NOTES
• Cal U opens PSAC West play on Saturday when it travels to face Seton Hill. The Vulcans are coming off a 61-0 victory against Millersville, their first shutout since 2012. Meanwhile, Seton Hill remains undefeated this season following a 44-22 victory against Kutztown.

• The Vulcans scored touchdowns in all three phases, including two on special teams, and allowed only 40 yards of total offense in a 61-0 victory over Millersville. Cal U totaled eight sacks and forced four turnovers in the victory with senior defensive lineman Jawan Turner registering 2.0 sacks and scoring on a touchdown on a fumble recovery. Junior quarterback Michael Keir finished with 198 passing yards and two touchdowns, both to senior Garry Brown. Brown also returned the opening kickoff of the second half 98 yards for a touchdown. Cal U also rushed for 181 yards on 38 attempts in the victory.

• The Vulcans have won each of the all-time meetings against the Griffins, who joined the PSAC in 2013. Cal U posted a 48-7 victory in the initial meeting of the series in the 2008 NCAA Playoffs when Seton Hill was a member of the WVIAC.

• After a successful tenure in NCAA Division III, Isaac Collins has posted a 10-26 overall record in four years as head coach with the Griffins. He earned his first victory at Seton Hill in the last game of the 2013 regular season, snapping the program's 23-game losing streak. Collins previously served three years as head coach at Widener, leading the program to a pair of wins in the 2012 NCAA Playoffs.

• Seton Hill has already matched its win total from last year while off to its first 3-0 start since the 2008 season. The Griffins rank third in the PSAC in scoring offense at 44.0 points per game and have scored at least 38 points in each of their three games. Junior quarterback Christian Strong ranks second in the country in both passing yards (429.0) and total offense (437.7) per game. Last week, Strong finished with 517 passing yards - the second-most in school history - and four touchdowns in a victory against Kutztown. An All-PSAC West selection in 2015, sophomore Ardell Brown sits second in the league with 129.3 receiving yards per game and is tied for the conference lead in touchdown receptions. The Griffins feature a balanced rushing offense with Khalil Howard and Jarvis McClam combining for over 330 yards and seven touchdowns. Seton Hill sits in the middle of the league in most defensive categories through three weeks. Senior linebacker David Gutzmore leads the team with 28 tackles (14 solo), while defensive lineman Alex Attia has registered 19 stops (11 solo) and 6.0 TFL. On special teams, senior William Hodge is averaging 47.0 yards per punt, which is a 10-yard improvement from last year, and freshman Michael Benton-Ferguson averages nearly 30 yards per kick return.

• The Vulcans were picked to finish third in the preseason PSAC West poll after ranking third place in the divisional standings in each of the last four years. Meanwhile, Seton Hill was chosen seventh in the PSAC West after losing six of its last seven games in 2015.

Gary Dunn has won his opening two games as head coach of the Vulcans this fall. Since World War II, only three first-year head coaches - Earle Bruce (1946), John Luckhardt (2002) and Mike Kellar (2012) - have won their initial three games as head coach of the program. Bruce holds the school record for most wins by a first-year head coach, as the Vulcans went 9-0 in his debut season.

• Cal U leads all of NCAA in scoring offense at 70.0 points per game after totaling a combined 140 points the past two weeks. The 140 points is the highest total in back-to-back games in program history. Prior to this season, the Vulcans last posted at least 50 points in consecutive games in 2008. The single-season school record for scoring offense stands at 42.1 points set in 10 games during the 2005 campaign.

• Last week, the Vulcans registered eight sacks with seven players posting at least 0.5 sack in the win over Millersville. Senior defensive lineman Jawan Turner paced the defense with 2.0 sacks, while junior linebacker Luke Hrapchak added 1.5 sacks. The eight sacks forced Millersville to only 26 rushing yards on 38 attempts. Cal U last tallied 8.0 sacks in a game against Lock Haven in 2010.

• Cal U has won all four meetings against Seton Hill, however, the last two victories have been by a combined 14 points after the initial two games were by 67 points.

• Senior Garry Brown scored three touchdowns last week and now has five touchdowns this year on only nine touches. Last week, he returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown and also scored a pair of receiving touchdowns. Brown, who became the first player since Terrell Roberson in 2013 to return a kickoff for a touchdown, ranks fifth among all active players in NCAA Division II with 2,461 career receiving yards.

• Last week, Cal U recorded its first shutout since the 2012 campaign and allowed only 40 yards of total offense, which is the lowest amount in recent program history. Under first-year defensive coordinator Mike Craig, the Vulcans lead NCAA Division II in rushing defense, total defense and scoring defense this season. Cal U is allowing just 18.5 rushing yards, 104.0 total yards and 1.5 points per game, while also leading the country with 14.0 TFL.

• Junior wide receiver Tom Greene set career highs with four receptions and 75 yards last week against Millersville. He ranks second on the team this year with seven receptions and 132 receiving yards after entering the season with only eight career catches for 119 yards.

• The Vulcans were penalized a whopping 14 times for 126 yards in last week's victory over Millersville. In comparison, the Marauders were penalized only twice in the game. Since 2014, Cal U has been penalized at least 10 times in a game 12 times and has surrendered over 100 yards in penalties 10 times during that span. The Vulcans led the PSAC in penalty yards per game in each of the last two years.

• Cal U has scored a staggering 19 touchdowns in the opening two weeks of the season yet a combined five touchdowns have come on interception, fumble and kickoff returns. Last week, senior Garry Brown scored a touchdown on the opening kickoff of the second half before junior Todd Coles, Jr. returned a fumble on the ensuing kickoff for a score. Earlier in the game, senior defensive lineman Jawan Turner registered a strip sack and returned the fumble for a touchdown.

• Junior Will Brazill leads all PSAC kickers with 24 points after the opening two games. He matched his career high with a pair of field goals last week against Millersville after setting a career high with 11 PAT conversions in the opener at Cheyney. Brazill is averaging 63.5 yards with seven touchbacks on 22 kickoffs this year. In 2015, he finished with an average of 58.5 yards per kickoff and totaled just five touchbacks on 51 kickoffs.

• Senior defensive back Aaron Terry halted the only sustainable drive of the game for Millersville last week with his first interception of the year. He made the interception at the Vulcans' 5-yard line and returned the turnover deep into Marauders' territory. Terry, who is now tied for the active team lead with 11 career interceptions, also set a career high with five punt returns last week.

• Through the opening two games, the Vulcans are averaging 236.0 rushing yards per game yet no player has totaled more than 150 rushing yards or 20 attempts. Junior Nick Grissom leads the team with 146 rushing yards on 14 attempts, while classmate Aaron Bailey paces the team with 18 carries for 103 yards. Sophomore Jalen Bell also has eclipsed the century mark, rushing for 101 yards on 13 attempts.
