CALIFORNIA (Oct. 8) – The Vulcans allowed four goals, including two in the final 10 minutes, on Saturday afternoon while suffering a 4-0 loss to Millersville on Senior Day at the Philipsburg Soccer Facility in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
With the loss, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team falls to 1-9-2 this season with all 12 contests being in league play. Meanwhile, the Marauders improve to 4-7 overall - all in conference action.
Millersville scored the initial goal of the game in the 39th minute when Kaylie Cutlip scored her second goal of the year off a header from Savannah Hall. The Marauders extended the lead to 2-0 shortly after the second period started at the 51:02-mark when Kay Liebl scored off an assist from Haile Parker. The Marauders added two insurance goals within four minutes of each other late in the second half when Rachel Lyon and Sydnie Parker both tallied their first goals of the season.
Senior
Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) finished with six saves, including five in the second half, while playing all 90 minutes. Millersville goalkeeper Jessica Samantha Wolfe registered her second shutout of the year while posting two saves.
Millersville finished with a 16-7 shot advantage after attempting 13 shots in the second period. The Marauders also posted a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Vulcans return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 11, when they host Mercyhurst at 4:30 p.m
