INDIANA, Pa. (Oct. 5) – Playing its fourth-straight road game, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team allowed a season-high four goals on Wednesday afternoon while suffering a 4-0 loss at IUP in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
With the loss, the Vulcans fall to 1-8-2 this season with all 11 contests being in league action. The four goals allowed by Cal U on Wednesday are the most in a game since Sept. 17, 2008 when it dropped a 4-1 contest – also against IUP. Meanwhile, the Crimson Hawks improve to 7-5 overall with a 6-4 mark in conference play.
IUP tallied the initial goal of the game in the 23rd minute when Cassidy LeDonne scored her second goal of the year following a feed from Kristen Baumgartner. The Crimson Hawks stretched the lead to 2-0 before halftime at the 37:45-mark when Kallie Conte scored off assists from Kiersten Zerbe and Lexie Palluconi. In the second period, IUP scored a pair of insurance goals in just over a six-minute span as Conte completed a hat trick by scoring in both the 55th and 61st minutes.

Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) finished with seven saves in 64-plus minutes, while junior
Michaela Colon (Montgomery Village, Md./Gaithersburg) posted two saves in nearly 26 scoreless minutes while making her season debut. IUP goalkeeper Jessica Printz registered her fourth shutout of the year.
IUP finished with a 19-6 shot advantage after attempting 13 shots in the first period. The Crimson Hawks also posted a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Vulcans return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, when they host Millersville for Senior Day at 3:30 p.m.
