PHILIPPI, W.Va. (Sept. 6) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 non-conference loss at Alderson Broaddus on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the Vulcans move to 1-1 this season while playing a pair of non-conference games. Meanwhile, the Battlers improve to 1-0-1 overall while in the middle of a five-game homestand to open the year.
The teams played a scoreless first period despite combining for 11 shot attempts, including five shots on goal. Alderson Broaddus took a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute when Deshawn Parker scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Marco Profumo.
The Battlers finished the game with an 11-4 shot advantage, as the Vulcans were held without a shot attempt in the second period. Alderson Broaddus also held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks on Sunday.

Aaron Donley (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) registered four saves while playing all 90 minutes in the losing effort.
Cal U opens Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Wednesday, Sept. 9, when it hosts Seton Hill at 6 p.m.
