CALIFORNIA (Dec. 19) – Senior
Richard Smith (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran East) paced five players scoring in double-digits, as the Vulcans claimed an 83-65 win over Urbana in non-conference play at the Convocation Center on Saturday evening.
With the victory, the California University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team improves to 5-7 overall. Meanwhile, Urbana falls to 1-8 this season while playing its first game since Dec. 5.
Smith finished with a season-high 20 points after shooting five-of-six from the floor and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. He also tallied three rebounds and four assists while playing 32 minutes against the Blue Knights. Smith is averaging 13.1 points over the last eight games while shooting 61 percent (39-of-64) from the field.

Josh Dombrosky (Shenandoah Heights, Pa./Shenandoah Valley) posted a career-high 11 points after making all four attempts from the floor, including three from beyond the arc. The trio of sophomore

Cordell Smith (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaw) each scored 10 points on Saturday. Jabbie also totaled four rebounds and five assists, while Andjusic collected six rebounds and three assists.
The teams traded points for the opening six minutes of the game before Cal U mounted a 13-4 run to take a 19-10 lead on a three-pointer by
Cordell Smith with 10:22 left in the first half. The Vulcans later built a 37-25 lead at the break after closing the half on a 12-6 rally following a three-pointer by Jabbie just 22 seconds remaining.
The Blue Knights scored the initial basket of the second half before the Vulcans answered with 12-unanswered points to take a 49-27 lead on a three-pointer by Dombrosky at the 16:59-mark. Cal U eventually stretched the lead to as many as 29 points, 74-45, on a jumper by Jabbie with 6:43 left to play. The Blue Knights mounted a 13-2 run to work the deficit down to 78-62 with 2:00 remaining before the Vulcans finished with the 83-65 victory.
Cal U shot over 60 percent in the second half and finished the game shooting at a 52.7 clip (29-of-55) from the floor, including 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from long range. Meanwhile, Urbana posted a .393 field-goal percentage in the loss and made just 17.6 percent (3-of-17) from beyond the arc. The Blue Knights finished with a 34-30 rebounding advantage, while the Vulcans scored 22 points off turnovers.
Freshman Jahmere Howze led the Blue Knights with 12 points and added seven rebounds in the loss. Senior Mike Newton and freshman Austin Adams both finished with 11 points and Adams paced the team with eight rebounds.
The Vulcans are idle for the remainder of the year before returning to action on Jan. 3 at East Stroudsburg with tipoff at 3 p.m.
