CALIFORNIA (Nov. 3) – The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team extended its winning streak to four matches on Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-21, 25-14) over Seton Hill in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play at the Convocation Center.
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 12-16 overall with a 10-8 mark in league action. Meanwhile, the Griffins fall to 20-11 this season behind an 11-7 record in conference play.

Mary Lavery (La Plata, Md./La Plata) and sophomore
Ashley Leto (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) tied for the team lead with 12 kills with Lavery posting a .393 hitting percentage and Leto hitting at a .455 clip. Freshman
Seairra Barrett (Center Twp., Pa./Central Valley) collected 10 kills on a season-high .643 hitting percentage, while junior
Danielle Hayes (Erie, Pa./McDowell) added nine kills in the sweep. Junior
Megan Litoborski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) guided the offense with 34 assists against the Griffins.

Abby Matusik (Mars, Pa./Mars) tallied a team-best 15 digs and was one of four Vulcans to record double-figure digs. Litoborski collected 13 digs for her 19th assist/dig double-double of the year, while Lavery and Hayes finished with 12 and 10 digs, respectively. Barrett registered six blocks in the victory and Hayes also added four blocks on Tuesday.
Early in the first set, Seton Hill mounted a 7-3 run to take an 11-9 lead before Cal U rallied to win three of four points to take a 13-12 lead on a kill by Lavery. Following a service error, the Vulcans claimed five-consecutive points to stretch their lead to 17-13 on a kill by Lavery that prompted a timeout by the Griffins. Cal U later won four-straight points to take a 21-14 lead on an attacking error before Seton Hill earned six of seven points to cut the deficit to 22-20. The Griffins later trimmed the deficit to 23-22 before the Vulcans earned a 25-22 win on a kill by Lavery.
Cal U opened the second set by winning four of the opening five points following a kill by Barrett. The Griffins rallied to win 10 of the next 16 points to take an 11-10 lead. Cal U then won six of eight points to reclaim the lead at 16-13 on a service ace by Lavery, who finished with three aces. The Griffins answered by claiming four of the next six points to cut the deficit to 18-17 before a timeout by the Vulcans. Cal U then won three-straight points to stretch the lead to 21-17 on a kill by Barrett before Seton Hill claimed four-consecutive points to tie the set at 21-21. The Vulcans responded by winning four-consecutive points, including back-to-back kills by Lavery to cap a 25-21 victory.
In the third set, the Vulcans committed only two hitting errors and registered a .452 hitting percentage. Cal U claimed eight of nine points early in the third set to take a 10-4 lead on a kill by Hayes before the teams traded the next four points. The Vulcans then won six of seven points to stretch the lead to 18-7 on a kill by Leto before the Griffins cut the deficit to 21-13. Cal U sealed the match victory by claiming five-unanswered points to earn a 25-14 victory on an ace by Litoborski.
Cal U returns to action with a pair of road matches this weekend, starting Friday, Nov. 6, at IUP with the match starting at 7 p.m.
