Haley Henderson (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton) and sophomore 
Danielle Kearns (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) each scored a goal, as the No. 12 California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team posted a 3-1 win over Millersville in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Saturday evening at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.
Opening up the home portion of their schedule, the Vulcans improved to 2-0 overall with both games in league play. Meanwhile, the Marauders fell to 1-1 this season with both games against conference opponents.
Kearns started the scoring in the 10th minute when she found the back of the net on a direct shot from just outside the 18-yard box off an assist from senior 
Chelsea Crockett (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford). With the assist, Crockett moved into sole possession of ninth place in school history with 62 career points (23 goals, 16 assists).
The Vulcans increased their lead to 2-0 on an 'own goal' less than two minutes into the second half. Millersville cut the deficit to 2-1 when Kristin Lepley scored on a corner kick at the 78:38-mark. Henderson added an insurance goal, her third of the season, in the final minute off an assist from junior 
Kara Novotny (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford). 
Sophomore goalkeeper 
Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) earned the win for Cal U, totaling two saves after not facing a shot in the first half. Millersville goalkeeper Olivia Webber made four saves in the losing effort.
The Vulcans held a decisive 16-5 shot advantage, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. After taking five corner kicks in the first half, Cal U finished the game with a 6-3 advantage in the category.
Cal U returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 7, when its host Davis & Elkins in non-conference play at 3 p.m.
