KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 27) – The No. 16 California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Kutztown in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play Saturday afternoon at Keystone Field.
With the loss, the Vulcans dropped to 4-2-1 overall and 4-2-0 in league play. The Golden Bears improved to 4-3-0 overall and 3-3-0 in conference action. Cal U had won its last seven contests against Kutztown entering the game, including in the NCAA Tournament last season.

Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) in the lower left corner off a blocked shot from the top of the 18-yard box. Sam Costello gave Kutztown added an insurance tally nearly six minutes later off a shot from 22 yards out.
Golden Bear goalkeeper Deanna Messner earned the shutout, as she totaled five saves. Jayes recorded four saves in the losing effort.
Cal U out-shot Kutztown by a 13-8 margin, including an 8-4 edge in the second half and both teams totaled four corner kicks.
The Vulcans conclude a three-game PSAC road trip on Tuesday, Sept. 30, when they travel to face Pitt-Johnstown at 4 p.m.
