CALIFORNIA (Oct. 25) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team was defeated by West Chester, 2-0, Friday afternoon at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.
The loss drops the Vulcans to 5-9-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Meanwhile, the Golden Rams improve to 8-1-1 in league play and 10-3-2 overall this season. West Chester is one of two teams to have already clinched a berth in the PSAC Tournament.
West Chester scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 15th-minute when leading scorer Conor Malarney received a pass down the sideline and beat senior goalkeeper
Alex Heston (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
The Golden Rams tacked on an insurance marker nearly 75 minutes later to secure the victory.
Heston made one save in the loss on West Chester's nine shot attempts. The Vulcans attempted seven shots, with four coming from senior

Cal U is back on the field tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 26 when it hosts East Stroudsburg. Five Vulcan senior players will be honored prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff.
