EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 11) – After dropping the first set, the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team rallied to win the next three sets and claimed a 3-1 victory (22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-19) at Edinboro on Friday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 15-4 overall and remain the only unbeaten team in conference play at 8-0 this year. Meanwhile, the Fighting Scots fall to 12-8 this season behind a 5-3 mark in league action with all three losses coming in a span of a week.
Senior
Molly Delaney (Carmel, Ind./Westfield) and junior
Laurel Miller (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) each recorded kill/dig double-doubles on Friday night, both finishing with a team-high 10 digs. Miller led all players with 17 kills on a .325 hitting percentage and collected four service aces, while Delaney posted 11 kills and a career-high six blocks in the victory.
Sophomore
Mary Lavery (La Plata, Md./La Plata) added nine kills and freshman
Julie Henderson (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton) directed the offense with 39 assists. Sophomore
Samantha Rudy (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) recorded nine digs and Henderson posted six digs at Edinboro.
The Vulcans continue their weekend road trip tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 12, when they travel to face Slippery Rock at 2 p.m.
