CALIFORNIA (Jan. 11) – Four players scored in double-digits on Friday evening, as the California University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team earned a 67-64 win over Millersville at the Convocation Center in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action.
With the victory, the Vulcans improve to 10-2 overall with a 6-2 record in league play. Cal U has won its last four games, including three victories by a combined 12 points, and moved into a three-way tie for second place in the PSAC West standings. Meanwhile, the Marauders fall to 8-4 this season and are in a four-tie for first place in the PSAC East standings with a 5-3 mark in conference action.

Emma Mahady (Albury, Australia/Xavier) scored a team-high 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor. Classmate
Irina Kukolj (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) added 13 points, six rebounds and three assists, while senior
Stephanie Michael (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) and junior
Ryah Gadson (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) both posted 10 points on Friday.

Ashley Hines (Newark, N.J./Trenton Central) tallied eight points and a team-high eight rebounds off the bench and fellow junior
Kate Seebohm (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) tied her season high with seven assists.
After trading baskets in the opening minutes, the Vulcans led 18-11 before stretching their lead to 24-12 following a jumper by Mahady with 10:48 left in the first half. Millersville countered with an 8-0 run before Cal U answered with five-straight points to take a 29-20 lead on a three-pointer by Michael with 5:38 remaining. The Marauders later scored the last five points before break, as the Vulcans took a 33-31 lead into halftime.
The two teams combined for eight lead changes and 11 ties in the second half with Millersville leading 54-52 with 8:23 left to play. The Vulcans responded with a 7-0 rally to reclaim the lead on a jumper by Hines before a three-pointer by Gadson stretched the lead to 59-54 with 5:18 remaining. The Marauders countered with a run to tie the game at 59-59 and took the lead before Gadson evened the score at 64-64 with a three-pointer with 1:18 left. After a Millersville turnover, Mahady converted a pair of free-throws to give Cal U a 66-64 lead before Gadson made a free-throw with 14 seconds remaining, 67-64. The Marauders then missed two potential game-tying, three-pointers in the closing seconds.
Cal U posted its best shooting performance in nearly a month, making 41.9 percent (26-of-62) from the field and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free-throw line. In comparison, Millersville shot 40.6 percent (26-of-64) from the floor and just 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the charity stripe. The Marauders held a 42-33 rebound advantage, but the Vulcans scored 20 points off turnovers.
Millersville senior forwards Miesha Cousins and Aurielle Mosley both finished with a game-high 16 points, while sophomore Carly Gallagher finished with 12 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
The Vulcans conclude PSAC Crossover play tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 12, when they host Shippensburg at the Convocation Center, starting at 5:30 p.m.
