LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 29) – Senior
Ryan Slaby (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) scored the game-winning goal in the 98th minute on Saturday evening to give the California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team a 2-1 overtime win at Lock Haven in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
With the victory, the Vulcans extend their winning streak to three games and improve to 5-5 overall with a 2-2 mark in league action. Meanwhile, the Bald Eagles fall to 4-4-1 this season with a 1-2 record in conference play.
Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute on a goal by freshman Asher Klahold before Cal U tied the game with a goal by senior
Chris Moehler (Centreville, Va./Paul VI Catholic) on a free kick at the 77:28-mark. Moehler has tallied a goal in each of the last four games and has set a career high with five goals this year. In overtime, Slaby recorded his first goal of the season (unassisted) in the 98th minute.
Sophomore
Shane Donovan (Pipersville, Pa./Central Bucks East) collected a career-high nine saves to earn his third-straight victory. Bald Eagles' sophomore Chris Frederick finished with six saves in the losing effort.
The Vulcans return to action on Saturday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Vienna, W.Va., to face Ohio Valley at 2 p.m.
