Cal U downed at West Chester, 3-1

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Sept. 22) – The Vulcans dropped their second-straight game on Saturday afternoon, falling by a 3-1 margin at West Chester in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.

With the loss, the California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team falls to 2-5 this year with an 0-2 mark in league play. Meanwhile, West Chester improves to 2-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference action.

The Golden Rams took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute before stretching the lead six minutes later on a goal by sophomore Alex Katz. Shortly after halftime, senior Chris Moehler (Centreville, Va./Paul VI Catholic) scored his second goal of the year on a penalty kick at the 47:11-mark. West Chester sealed the win with an unassisted goal by sophomore Dan Venuto in the 79th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Shane Donovan (Pipersville, Pa./Central Bucks East) recorded five saves in the losing effort while playing all 90 minutes. Golden Rams senior Garrett Bleiler tallied seven saves in the victory on Saturday.

Cal U returns to action when it hosts a non-conference game against Pitt-Johnstown on Tuesday, Sept. 25, starting at 6 p.m.
