CALIFORNIA (Sept. 14) – Sophomore Haley Henderson (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton) scored the game-winning goal in her first career start on Friday afternoon, as the Vulcans opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play with a 1-0 victory against Clarion at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.

With the win, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team improves to 3-1 this season with a 1-0 mark in league play. The Vulcans also extended their unbeaten streak against PSAC teams in the regular season to 18 games (16-0-2). Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles fall to 1-1-2 overall and 1-1 in conference action.

The Vulcans posted the only goal of the game at the 30:57-mark when Henderson scored off a header following a corner kick by classmate Erin Hogan (Beaver, Pa./Beaver).

Henderson is now tied for the team lead with three goals this season. An All-PSAC Third-Team selection last year, Hogan tallied her league-leading fourth assist of the year against Clarion.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Magruda (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) registered her third shutout of the season after making one save on four shots. Clarion sophomore Laura Saussol finished with a season-high nine saves in the loss after allowing her first goal in over 340 minutes this year.

Cal U continues PSAC play tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 15, when it hosts IUP at 5 p.m.
