CALIFORNIA, Pa. (Oct. 7) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team extended their winning streak to five games on Sunday afternoon, posting a 4-0 victory over Chestnut Hill in non-conference play at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.
With the victory, the Vulcans improve to 7-5 on the season. Meanwhile, the Griffins fall to 5-7-1 with the loss.
Cal U took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when sophomore
Brad Colvin (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) posted his third goal of the year off a pass from classmate
Jeffrey Kyei (Tübingen, Germany/SIT Tübingen). After the break, senior
Chris Moehler (Centreville, Va./Paul VI Catholic) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season at the 70:25-mark off an assist by Kyei. Senior
Ryan Slaby (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) tallied his second goal of the season off a pass from fellow senior
Paul Silvestrone (Vaughan, Ontario/Cardinal Center) at the 72:41-mark and junior
Christopher Karns (Mars, Pa./Mars) followed with his third goal of the year in the 88th minute off a feed from classmate
Gaby Deller-Borgono (Toronto, Ontario/Oakwood C.I.).
In his second start of the year, sophomore
Mitch Mack (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) recorded three saves to improve to 2-0 on the season. Chestnut Hill goalkeeper Michael Goldstein posted seven saves in the loss.
The Vulcans are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 9, when they host Bloomsburg at 2 p.m.
