Vulcans blank Edinboro, 3-0

CALIFONRIA (Oct. 26) – Junior Molly Delaney (Carmel, Ind./Westfield) led the team with 12 kills on Friday night, as the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team collected a 3-0 win (25-19, 25-18, 25-8) against Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action at the Convocation Center.

With the victory, the Vulcans improve to 23-5 overall and remain in third place in the league standings with an 11-3 divisional record. Meanwhile, the Fighting Scots fall to 8-19 this season after losing six of their last seven matches and is 5-9 in league play.

Delaney finished with 12 kills on 20 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage. Senior Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) added nine kills while hitting at a .563 clip and classmate Bridget Bielich (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) posted nine kills on a .667 hitting percentage. Senior Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) collected seven kills, 13 assists and four blocks in the win, while junior Abbey Freund (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) finished with 14 assists on Friday.

Sophomore libero Julia Muzy (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Liceu Franco Brasileiro) paced the defense with eight digs, while Harris and Freund added six and five digs, respectively. Freshman Miranda Fouzie (Kingston, Ontario/Sydenham) established a season high with five blocks in the sweep.

The Vulcans continue divisional play tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 27, when they host league-leading Gannon at 2 p.m.
