Cal U earns double OT tie at ESU, 1-1

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 13) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team rallied to tie the game in the 84th minute before registering a 1-1 double-overtime tie at East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.

With the tie, the Vulcans move to 8-5-1 overall with a 3-2-1 mark in league action. Cal U is now tied for fourth place in the PSAC standings with 10 points. Meanwhile, the Warriors move to 3-8-2 this year behind a 0-4-2 record in conference play.

East Stroudsburg took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute with an unassisted goal by Denis Loboda. The Vulcans then tied the score at the 83:52-mark on a header by senior Chris Moehler (Centreville, Va./Paul VI Catholic), his seventh goal of the year. Neither team was able to attempt a shot in the first overtime before the Vulcans managed two shots (both wide) in the second overtime.

Sophomore Mitch Mack (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) posted a season-high five saves while facing 13 shots. Warriors' freshman Callum Hapson collected nine saves in 110 minutes of action.

Cal U returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 16, when it travels to Erie, Pa., to face Gannon at 6:30 p.m.
