Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Sept. 20) – In a rematch of last year's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship Game, the No. 2 California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie at No. 12 West Chester in league play on Tuesday evening.

With the tie, both teams remain undefeated this season. The Vulcans move to 4-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in league mark, while the Golden Rams move to 4-0-3 this year with a 2-0-3 record in conference action. Over the last two seasons, Cal U and West Chester have met four times with the last three games resulting in a double-overtime tie.

After a scoreless first period, Cal U took a 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute when junior Kayla Fransko (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) tallied her first goal of the season (unassisted). The Golden Rams evened the score in the final five minutes of regulation when junior Jen Hutchinson recorded an unassisted goal at the 85:46-mark. Despite a combined eight shots, the two teams were unable to break the tie in the two overtime periods and the Vulcans were issued two yellow cards in the closing seconds of the second overtime.

Senior goalkeeper Paula Jackson (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust) tied her career high with eight saves, including four in the first overtime period. West Chester's Shannon Fedyk collected nine saves in 110 minutes of action on Tuesday.

The Golden Rams out-shot the Vulcans by a 16-13 margin and also held an 11-6 advantage in corner kicks.
