Women's Soccer blanks Lock Haven, 3-0

CALIFORNIA (Sept. 17) – The No. 4 California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team used goals from three different players on Sunday evening to post a 3-0 win against Lock Haven at the new Soccer Facility in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

With the victory, the Vulcans to improve to 4-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in league play. Cal U also extended its scoreless streak to 360 minutes after opening the season with four-straight shutouts. Meanwhile, the Bald Eagles remain winless this season at 0-4-0 with a 0-3-0 mark in conference action.

The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the third minute when sophomore Chelsea Norbuts (Monroeville, N.J./Woodstown) tallied her first goal of the season off an assist from freshman Erin Hogan (Beaver, Pa./Beaver). Cal U quickly expanded its lead at the 9:25-mark when junior Kristen Orrett (Pickering, Ontario/Pickering) converted a penalty kick for her third goal of the season, 2-0. In the opening minutes of the second half, Hogan posted her first career goal off an assist from senior Breeanna Robinson (East Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton Academy).

Senior goalkeeper Paula Jackson (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust) earned her third win of the season after making two saves in 71-plus minutes of action, while the Bald Eagles' Dana Wozniak finished with nine saves in the loss.

Cal U finished the game with a 22-6 shot advantage and held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

The Vulcans return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 20, when they travel to face No. 10 West Chester at 4 p.m. Last year, the two nationally-ranked teams met three times with the last two meetings resulting in double-overtime ties.
