CALIFORNIA (Sept. 16) – The Vulcans registered a season-high 11 service aces in a 3-0 victory (25-17, 25-15, 25-16) against West Chester in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action on Friday evening at Hamer Hall.
With the win, the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team improves to 8-2 this season and earned the win in its league opener. Meanwhile, the Golden Rams drop to 7-4 overall after entering the day on a three-match win streak.

Sara McMullen (State College, Pa./State College) and junior
Chelsea Wilson (Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood Antis) each posted four service aces in the victory, while McMullen also tied junior
Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) for the team lead with nine digs. Harris paced the offense with eight kills and fellow junior
Meghan Franz (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) and freshman
Julia Muzy (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Liceu Franco Brasileiro) each contributed six kills against the Golden Rams.
Cal U setters
Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and
Abbey Freund (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) registered 15 and 14 assists, respectively. Fromknecht also tied her season high with five blocks (one solo) on Friday.
The Vulcans continue PSAC Crossover play tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 17, when they host Cheyney and Kutztown at Hamer Hall, starting at 10 a.m.
